Hopefully justice at last for the sub-postmasters, many who have had their lives ruined by the post office.

Just breaking that 39 have had their convictions quashed.

The post office computer system, Horizon, falsely reported short-falls in their takings.

The behaviour of the post office, they must have known this despite what they did to these people.

I heard about this on the radio about a couple of years ago. I can't imagine what it's been like to live with this hanging over you for so long, and a few have not lived to see this verdict.

Absolutely shameful cover up and it would be wonderful if those responsible were somehow put through similar feelings by a case being brought against them.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Just read there were something like 700 cases! Should have rung alarm bells somewhere, unbelievable. Unfortunately those responsible will have long retired on nice pensions no doubt

Being sorry is not enough.

This was malicious prosecution, the PO knew full well their system was at fault, and pursued these people in that knowledge.

Let them pay in the same way as they meted out to others.

Yes, mucho compo is the only thing that will suffice, an apologetic letter from the post office chief will not suffice! On a different note, sending a parcel by post is fcukin expensive, sent a £1 box of sweets , slim box size of an envelope, light weight, to Essex from Croydon the other week, cost me £3.80 to send standard! That needs investigating too!

In addition to quashing the sentences, the Court of Appeal also ruled that the 39 convictions were also "an affront to the public conscience".

That, I believe, opens the door to malicious prosecution.

Nothing really compensates for what these people have gone through, however.
