RIP THE voice of F1/scalectrix, along with David Coleman, his commentries will be legend.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

'Muddly Talker' was a very enthusiastic and entertaining commentator. He was fun to listen to and talked with great authority about the sport he loved. Condolences to his family.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

The lead car is unique, except for the one behind it which is identical. There's nothing wrong with the car except that it's on fire. And that just shows you how important the car is in Formula One Racing. Either the car is stationary, or it's on the move. That's history. I say history because it happened in the past. Some Murray Walker quotes, what a fun and informative man he was, his infectious enthusiasm for his sport motor racing. RIP Murray Walker

I used to thoroughly enjoy listening to the great Murray Walker. Thoughts go out to all his family and friends at this sad time. RIP.

F1 never sounded the same after he retired. Lazy Sundays as a kid watching the likes of Mansell, Prost and then Hill etc. Great memories. And I've got to stop, because I've got a lump in my throat. RIP.

Another commentator with a very distinctive style gone. Sadly we are left with the bland across most sports now. RIP Murray.

Always loved his comments, but his partnership with James Hunt was brilliant too - they almost used to fight for the microphone...... Murray: "There's a firey glow coming from the back of the Ferrari!" - James Hunt: "No Murray, that's his rear safety light"

I read "Bedside Wheels" by Murray Walker many years ago. Lots of F1 stories and gives insight to the man and commentator. Whilst Murray spent days before race day , making notes, walking the circuit, talking to everyone and getting to the commentary box ten hours before the start. James hunt used to roll into the comm-box 5 minutes before the off, stinking of perfume and alcohol, as he'd spent previous 48 hours getting drunk and porking laydeez. I went to meet Murray at The Goodwood Festival of speed some 25 years ago. Me aged late 20's, him aged early 70's and he left me standing as he ran off. Bloody fit bloke.
I disengage, I turn the page. |
