Does anybody else find this gross ?

Can you imagine this being acceptable in other walks of life ?

- golf
- Tennis
- snooker

- debates in Westminster
- operating Theatres
- Catering kitchens

Considering the number of sliding tackles and players going to ground, they are rolling in somebody else's gob.

At a time of paranoia about germs, surely we can stamp it out. Kick spitting out of football, No Saliva Matters.

You now get a yellow card for removing your shirt, how about for spitting ?

Good point PV, but a tricky one. Soccer players aren't the only culprits. Our rugby chums are also fond of a good clear out.

You mention tennis players as examples of non spitters, but at least they can discreetly use their towel every couple of minutes.

Anyway, I can vaguely remember playing our game many, many years ago and I'm sure I felt the need fairly often. Isn't it just a physical necessity?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I have witnessed matches at Crowborough FC on a few occasions from the days when the ground was known as the 'Alderbrook' to the rename as the 'Crowborough Community Stadium'.
When I first visited the ground, the club were playing in the 'Sussex County League'.

I recall the ground before it was vastly upgraded with the new facilties behind the goal housing the changing rooms which used to be in Portakabins adjacent to the clubhouse.

Can't be avoided I'm afraid.

Whilst the action itself is rank, as others have said it needs to be done as it just builds up. I will spit when I have a mouth fall of saliva during a long run.
Fortunately, I've never found myself in this situation on the golf course, playing snooker or in a catering kitchen. Although I have during tennis.

Spitting on a football pitch is very different from the chavs you see spitting in the street.

indoor basketball, table tennis, 5 a side ?

come to think of it, i do not recall much spitting on the Tour de France.

If a fella can win a big competition , while not spitting, then the whole argument becomes a matter of opinion.
