Rumour from a couple of sources, think I would prefer him to Tosun.
Not really sure though.

Would love it, personally. Exactly what I think we need right now, playing the way we play.

The bloke is a goal machine, much like myself. Should never have let him go. Great chant too. Yes please

Gayle is a better bet than Tosun though neither is Premiership quality.

In hindsight, a great decision to get rid of him at the time, not (wasn't it clueless Al ??), especially as he was the best finisher in the club at the time.
What we have been endured in terms of forwards and goalscoring since, makes his return on a free not the worst piece of business ever.
Certainly a cut above Ayew Wickham Bamford Sanogoals Tosun Sorloth et al !

A great deal of rumours during the 'Transfer Window' with many way off the mark.
Gayle is 31 this year and has been found wanting in the PL.

Not true (the 31 year old part is). He’s scored everywhere he’s been, he’s just not had much of a run out. Get him on the pitch for 90 mins every game and he’ll get 10+ a season

Dwight Gayle has scored goals in the Championship and below.
He has scored 26 goals in over 120 PL games.
The idea is to reduce the average age of our 'Dad's Army' squad.

I must be missing something here. Dwight is an average goal scorer at the top level who has very little else to his game. If he came on low wages as our 4th striker I’d be fine with this but nothing else.

You love a stat, Willo. Please will you find goals per minute rather than goal per game. I believe this season it is 1 goal in 4 appearances, or 1 goal in 61 minutes. One stat is far more impressive than the other and the latter is a fairer reflection of his goal scoring prowess.

I’d hazard a guess that his goals per minute is right up there with the big names.

I am not minded to research his goals per minute in the PL.Mattteo is the person who provided goals per minute information and my cerebral matter had some difficulty computing this statistic!

I accept that this season and last he has made a number of appearances from the bench in the last quarter of any hour but I would suggest that if it was felt he was a striker of PL quality he would have been a more regular starter.

As I stated before he has featured in over 120 PL games so has been given a chance but his goal return at this level has been disappointing.
