Operation stack is in place but since no one can go anywhere, it couldn't have happened at a better time.

I live near Dover and believe me there are lorries parked up all over the place down here, lay bys, industrial estates anywhere there’s tarmac there on it. The local council are putting up no entry signs for large vehicles on many side roads to avoid the place becoming a total log jam.. They are definitely in the 1000’s

Hmm, I wonder why France has closed its borders? Coronavirus. Brexit, Coronavirus, Brexit. Yep, I think I know. Well screw ‘em, oldest trick in the book trying to corner Boris into a deal he doesn’t want to take.

Of course, seeing as the majority of drivers trapped are from the EU this does no-one any favours. If the French wanted to, there could be no difference whatsoever in trade movement of goods between the countries but we all know what our French friends are like.

Has been a common occurrence in recent years, not in such great numbers admittedly. Brexit? thought the French have said because of Covid! Or are you agreeing this is payback?

No doubt British Hauliers are caught up in this, trying to export perishable goods to the continent.
It seems the majority of hauliers are continental drivers with empty lorries, desperate to get home for Christmas.
I am sceptical that even most of them will make it home for Christmas. Feel really sorry for the drivers, who are losing money, 'living' in inhumane conditions (no toilets, showers, changes of clothes and on the verge of running out of food,....missing family time

I disengage, I turn the page.

According to something I saw from a transport company manager, nearly all the lorries are Irish or continental.

British firms are simply using other ports without any problems

No, while it is irresistible, France and the others are defending themselves against the new strain of virus found in the UK.

I would have thought it must be in the EU too, we will soon found out.

This isn't the first time Operation Stack has been put in to place and it won't be the last. The only difference this time is that the UK is more prepared than ever.

There will be hundreds, if not thousands of European drivers stuck, not getting home for Christmas, because France has shut it's ports again.

On top of that thousands or millions of prepaid shipments to business in the EU are now stuck on our island.

Pressure will build on France to do something. We can just sit and wait.
