of late, i am finding Gary Linekar , Sky & BT all to be annoying and patronising with their commentary. Too much politics, propaganda and distracting guff about the new soap dispensers at the toilets in the Emirates.

And so now, at half time , i pause the telly, make a cup of tea and fast forward to the kickoff of the second half.

Roy Keane.....a plastic hard man. A broken record with only one or two stock phrases. Ditto Graeme Souness.

Female presenters who are eye-candy and last week hosted the business programme or a cookery programme. And seem to barely know the offside rule.

Ex players who can barely string a sentence together having finished their formal education at 12 years old.

Press conferences .........snore.

Post-match interviews......with journalists who seem to love the sound of their own idiotic voice.

Patrice Evra.....i struggle to understand what he is on about most of the time. And lost all respect for him when he outed the Zaha rumour on live tv.

Even the charming Jeff Stelling seems to spend much time championing womens football, mens' cancer and the latest charity fun run for St Barts hospital.

Retired referees doing an autopsy on the performance of VAR this week. Boring.

A 5 minute article about the groundsman at Wembley and what equipment he uses to mow the lawn.....as boring as a getting a root-canal at Croydon dental practice.

Remembrance Sunday, wreaths, poppies, bands, silent vigils,

1 minute silence for the death of a 1950's player i never knew was alive in the first place ?

These morning chatshows with footballers and a crowd of eejits in the studio. Like Top Gear in red shorts.......boring.

Do you want to know about Grassroots urban yoof playing footy to stay away from gangs & drugs, interviewed by Rio Ferdinand ?... dull and uninteresting (and no mention of the never ending story of Ferdinand losing his driving license again )

And do i honestly give a flying f...ck whether or not those nasty football fans in Russia will or won't be flying the LGBT rainbow flag at their stadium ? And the sincere and stern face of Linekar while lecturing me.

Even the journalistic coverage of Palace is getting tedious and annoying. So why would i want to watch similar documentary pieces about some team i don't even like ?

What about you ?

do you Switch on the footy just after the BLM bowing and turn off the second the ref blows his final whistle ?

watch just the footy live or watch all the other peripheral guff too ??

Agree with all that except I quite enjoy watching Dermot Gallagher squirming his way through explaining why VAR decisions are always right.

Years ago whilst abroad(spain & portugal), in the right bar, you could watch the game 'live' & listen to Radio5 live. Happy days.

With the radio commentary ahead of the match on the tv.

I never watch the pundits, particularly Lineker. I'm never surprised by their complete lack of knowledge about Palace. It's basically always been about that. I can't believe how much Sky try to make people interested in the Women's football. I don't know anyone who is. Surely grass roots women's football is more interesting and better followed than any of this Women's Premier League stuff, which seems frankly cringe worthy.
Where I will disagree with you is Remembrance Sunday, I have no issue with that. A couple of years ago now, I went Away to Liverpool, our match was on around midday on Remembrance Sunday, the fellas and myself all went to the parade, stood to attention and saluted the minute's silence. It was a great day. I think we won too so it must be a while ago. Lest we forget.

Pretty good summary. I would however add Sky Sports News which should now be shut down under the Misdescriptions Act. I have turned over several times to see if there was anything about Palace (yeh, I know!) and rather than be greeted with Sports news it would either be someone rabbiting on about coming out as a rugby player, having a sex change and missing out on Sport because of it, or Sky’s current favourite, discussing racism in every facet of every sport.

Not one bit of sports news in 3 of the 4 times I switched over. I’ve just given up on that channel now. Best way to find out Sports news is News Now on your phone and then you can pick and choose what you want to read.

If Sky want to talk about all that other stuff, then fine, but have a separate channel dedicated to it.

what I would like to see is the match referee being interviewed after a game , now that could be worth watching

Not allowed FK for fear of litigation.

I'll try to explain, in footy you have LAWS not rules, ALL pyramid refs have public liability insurance, every ref upto the chamionship is an amature ref, ie, has another full time job, only the EPL refs ars employed full time

So, in the EPL, you cant have a match official & his team giving interviews to the media & allowing them, albeit, honestly giving their appraisal of the match, the lawsuits that would follow would bankrupt football ax wd know it.

This is not & never to say a match official & his team do not go out there & try to deliver an honest, unbiased perfomance, Clutterfcuk aside(he will NEVER be allowed to officiate in the UK again), the game as we knew it, is dead, MONEY rules & that, is so sad.

Sky Sports News keeps blathering on about 'speedway'...that dumb motorbike crap , baseball, american football and other rubbish that seems to all have the logo of a burger chain slapped onto the pitch.

...you may as well discuss planting flowers into window boxes for all the interest it garners.

What I am about to write seems so far-fetched that I am reluctant to do so and risk finishing up with piles of egg on my face. But I feel almost certain that when Venables was in his last stint with us, we were asked to observe a minute's silence when his father died!
