BBC link Trump wanted to stop Iran's nuclear arms project, so instead of military action, there seems to have been a bit of a car crash in Tehran. (a bit like Trump's Presidency)

Iran/Iraq, the Middle East generally, are all on borrowed time. Once the high demand for oil goes they will become an irrelevance and no-one will give a damn about them. If the US want to speed up that process then maybe they should step up their alternative fuel programs rather than war for wars sake.

More than likely but as we are purely speculating I would like to throw another name into the mix: Saudi Arabia. The Saudis and the Iranians are fighting proxy wars as both vie to be top dog in the ME. The Saudi's would not want a nuclear Iran any more than Israel would. Anyway just a wild guess.

For me this is our no 1 security issue we rely on a lot of our energy from the ME and Russia. If the Saudi kingdom ever fell to extremists and it almost did in the 1970's they would turn off the taps. As for Russia it is simply unpredictable who know what type of leader will replace Putin. So I agree we need to be as self reliant as possible.
