You can't just bowl onto a public zoom chat and start talking about 'coloured players', 'South Asians and Afro Caribbeans have different career interests' and how being gay is a 'life choice'.

He may well have been genuinely engaged in trying to change the culture of the FA but if he's using language and opinions like this it indicates he really doesn't understand the subject matter. Also doesn't say much about his ability to read a room.

Absolute barrage of fails. So yes, I can see why he's been asked to resign. To be fair, it was probably overdue – the role he appears to have played in the scheming re. the premier league proposals should have been enough.

Let’s break it down;
1. Coloured vs People of colour. I’d leave it to any BAME folk on here to decide how offensive this is. To me, it’s not the worst thing ever but keen to hear other’s views.
2. Gay being a life choice. Well, I don’t agree with that, but I’d like to know the context.
3. South Asians in IT vs Afro-Carribeans. This is bourne out by my experiences. I don’t see why it is offensive. It’s just a fact from what I can see.
4. Young girls not liking the ball hot hard at them. Is this a huge surprise to anyone? Fairly common sense in my opinion.

So 1, jury out pending other’s feedback. 2, gaffe, pending context. 3&4, seems fair enough to me.

Clumsy and out of touch, especially considering the point of the conversation at hand. But the actual intent of what he was trying to say wasn't negative or discriminatory and I do believe that should count for something.

Sadly the man just hasn't been keeping up. Why stray into a dark wood without a torch. If you don't know your way through the marshes don't go to the Fenland.
