The big clubs who are involved in European competition are all bleating about fixture congestion. And now the subject of allowing 5 substitutes has reared its head again.

Any sympathy from for their "plight"? I'm not sure how I'd feel if Palace were in that position, but I thought squad rotation was there for this situation.

We are in different times this season with the late start - next season we will probably be back to normal and my view is that they should just get on with it and stop grizzling.

And perhaps it is also just another backdoor way of hinting that there are too many clubs in the Premier League - an old chestnut that I am sure will keep coming back.

Not much sympathy for them, no, on the grounds that Man City, Liverpool, etc, are going to have 5 much better players on their bench than other clubs.
There must be an optimum playing time between being over tired and not match fit but it’s quite changeable.

Maybe we should give them a 2 goal start or a bye to the FA cup final.

Or suggest European competitions scrap the league element and go back to being knock out games.

Ian Wright suggested that the teams who played each other that had played in europe , like liverpool v man city , should be allowed 5 subs , but not spurs who were playing west brom .What a ludicrous idea

lets look at the problems facing small clubs

- your best players get poached
- a relegation fight every year
- getting hammered by big clubs regularly
- money problems
- carrying some donkey players that you cannot replace
with talent
- player x wants more money from you as he really wants to sign for a glory team
- referees don't like you

do the big clubs have sympathy for small clubs ?

And these will be the same clubs that wanted the European Premier League in addition to the English one, presumably.......

I refer to my comment on that thread!

And don’t forget have been happy to cream off large chunks of the TV money. If you take their money you have to play to their rules I’m afraid. Absolutely no sympathy

What is less than no sympathy? As that's what I feel for these poor little 'Big' clubs.

Yes they should be allowed 5 subs, but only in European matches, then it has no impact on domestic football.

They just want everything in their favour. I’m sure Man Utd and Arsenal will complain soon that teams are playing too well against them and that it is unfair they are so far down the league.

Didn’t Alex Ferguson complain that other teams “raised their game” against Man Utd?
