The had the journalist Shaun Wallace on Talksport about an hour ago. He seemed quite upset at having to report the new proposals put forward by the “big” teams in the EPL. Basically, in return for giving the EFL and the FA £250m the 9 teams that have spent the longest time in the Premier League are going to have control of all football! This includes reducing teams in EPL down to 18, deciding on whether clubs can be taken over by new owners, new rules, play offs going back to including a team from the EPL and more control to help teams when playing in Europe. Each new rule/law will go to a vote between these 9 clubs (which include Soton and West Ham) and will be passed with a majority of 6 to 3. Apparently Liverpool and Man Utd have both signed up to this. Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose were both shocked. But they think clubs low down the pyramid who will get a fairer chunk of money each year may go for it.

A nice little carve up for the big boys. Perhaps we should leave them to it. They could have a league of their own of 8 teams, and let them get sick to death of the sight of each other.

I think it has always been in their thinking that, get the right teams in the PL and do away with promotion and relegation.

Hoping this is doesn’t come to fruition. Has now been reported on Skysports. All about the powerful becoming more powerful. These are the same bunch of teams that want euro qualification based on past continental success regardless of league position. They want to make it harder to get promoted. More importantly they want to abolish the one vote per club rule in the premier league, which means the top 6 teams will dictate everything. The premier league has come out with a statement to say they are against this and see it as damaging to the long term future or the games

Currently the 14 club majority rule in the PL will be replaced by a system whereby 6 of the 9 'Special status' clubs can get a proposal passed.We know who will rule the roost.

So it basically sounds like they wanted this three years ago but support had been lacking and so they are now using the pandemic as an opportunity to blackmail the EFL. How can six clubs basically decide everything? Not least the biggest six clubs. Are their huge budgets, luxury stadiums and ability to attract world class players not enough? There is only one reason they want this and that is to ensure everything favours the big clubs. Imagine being Leicester and despite having won the PL in recent times still being denied a vote. If it somehow got through then I hope fans across the country show their disgust as on paper it is a deceitful power grab.

Are Man City in this? 10 years ago their owners hadn't even heard of Manchester, then they bought their way to the top... Now they want to lock the rest of us out?

The other thing about the proposal is the big six will have the power to veto any ownership change in the PL. Basically, if a club gets taken over by a billionaire, they will block it to stop another team becoming a rival. Hoping this does not become a reality

This isn't the first time the ' top ' clubs have made a power play and it won't be the last. But at a time when they arguably need the fans more than ever, this is insensitive at best.
