"Dominic Raab's bodyguard has been "removed from operational duties" after allegedly leaving his gun on a plane at Heathrow. A cleaner is reported to have found the loaded Glock 19 pistol in its holster on a seat on the United Airlines flight after it landed in London on Friday. The foreign secretary had been in Washington DC to speak to US politicians about Brexit." (BBC website) And David Cameron's bodyguard did the same when Cameron was PM.

I suspect every major countries Foreign Minister, or equivalent has personal protection. Just goes with one of the high offices of state. Nothing untoward in it. Personally, and it is not a popular opinion, I think a Foreign Minister should not be travelling on any kind of commercial airline on official business, with the flights on private/airforce jets landing and taking off from secured military airbases. This cop was just human like the rest of us. A huge error no doubt and I would imagine potentially a career ending mistake, and even at best a massive black tick against his or her name for the rest of their time in the police force. I know people who worked for the MOD, and security could be active at any given time. In the times of the IRA there were background checks on relatives and covert checking of properties and vehicles.

If he had shot Raab with it this would have been much more interesting.

What would be more interesting is Blair’s bodyguards deciding to take a similar course of action

That would be put your feet up and open the popcorn moment! Good to know that those on the left continue to be such caring, reasonable types.

The big 4 ministerial posts (PM, Chancellor, Home and Foreign Secs) along with Minister for Northern Ireland all get 24 hour security. All former PM's and Sec State for N I get protection for life. Guessing the poor copper is now on a charge. I recall one chaotic 2 days a few years ago. One day one a civil servant left a laptop on a train at Waterloo, they were sacked. A day later a minister did the same. They locked down the station until it was found and nothing more was said.

Good to know those on the right(rabb), are so interested in other peoples welfare and society that they propose to ditch the £7.20 minimum wage- so they can pay people less than that! Keep blowing smoke up their arses hrolf- they will look after you handsomely me thinks! 9Or so you believe)

I doubt rabb from the right could be described as a caring, reasonable type- he wanted to get rid of the £7.20 minimum wage so the CONServatives could pay people less than a whole £7.20- we can get them cheaper? It"s a race to the bottom with the Eton CONS i"m afraid and with people like you thinking you are part of the elite gang , hanging on to their cloak tails, the working people are never going to get parity ! As Angela rayner said to boris the other day, "I used to work with carer"s before becoming an mp , you used to earn £2300 an hour Boris, how much does a carer earn per hour can you tell me? Boris went quiet- I would have said-"Not much and no hope of ever earning much with the delusional right like hrolf around".
