With Everton seemingly buying midfielders left right and centre, how about Tom Davies? Easily fills the young player brief Roy has set this window, and has premier league experience. Heard rumours of a £12 million price tag with Newcastle interested. Not a ridiculous amount of money for someone that young and of good quality. Thoughts?

Not a bad idea but probably the wrong time given:
1. We have already beefed up our midfield with Eze and (almost certainly) Gallagher.
2. We have pressing needs in other positions which the club seem to be focusing on if the rumours are true.

I've always liked him and thought he be a Roy type of player. A natural successor to MacArthur. However I reckon that's also why we're after Downes.

I don't like him. He seems too slow and weak for the PL.

Another Josh McEachran

I was at Goodison a couple of years back when their midfield of Siggurdson, Rooney, N'Gueye and Davies wiped the floor with Luka, Cabaye and McArthur - we didn't have Wilf or Loftus Cheek that day and our midfield trio was put in its place - it's why some of us like McArthur but realise he can get overrun against quality. Davies was neat and tidy and looked OK, but it seemed Everton were keen to develop one of their local crop and I thought the quality around him flattered him - Sean Scannel was a great youngster who was recently let go by Blackpool and is now at Grimsby - similarly could see Davies ending up in the championship - bit of a passenger at prem level.

106 PL appearances by 22 years old. I think Tom Davies is a significant upgrade on Sean Scannel and I will be very surprised if he doesn’t spend the majority of his career in the PL.

Yep, 100+ PL appearances by 22 is a serious achievement - there’s only a handful of players to have achieved that, and you’re talking the likes of Fabregas, Milner, Rooney, Sterling and Ronaldo. More recently it’s Dele, Henderson, Lukaku and Rashford...

Not bad company.

not bad company but he's nowhere near them - closer to Ben Watson imho, or maybe Tom Cleverly, Southgate is giving a lot of promising players an opportunity - Davies is not even on his radar, behind the likes of James Ward Prowse.
