Seriously to all the negative people out there who constantly try to put others down, no one is forcing you to read my/our posts, no one is forcing you to believe them. In fact no one is even forcing you to have an account. I appreciate most will be posted somewhere in the press domain as this is their jobs. I am just a fan who runs a business, a children’s football club & when I have time try to pass on what I hear sometimes may be late to the party but post so those that are interested so they can read. If not interested then don’t read. You mention about Eze but I will just add I said weeks ago it was a done deal yet the press were saying he was off to West Ham or West Brom or we had bid turned down & their were many Palace fans who were stressing & saying we were going to miss out yet I kept saying remain patient. The fee had always been agreed it was just a matter of other things & timing. However I don’t know why I am justifying myself as what exactly am I doing wrong apart from posting on a forum. It’s a shame that in society today we always want to try to put people down just as well I am strong enough to take it. This is meant to be a Palace Fan Forum so why can’t we just all appreciate all which is posted in good intentions instead of constantly trying to find a negative. Their is far too much negativity in the world today let’s not bring it on here let’s be positive & a support to whoever needs it at the end of the day we are all human & most of all Palace Fans. Up the Palace.

Hear, hear Dazza. May I congratulate you on an excellent post. I post as someone who has faced shot and shell and a visceral campaign of ordure and opprobrium. I have always sought to be as constructive and informative as I can within my capabilities and argued my case free from profanity and personal insults.Thankfully there have been those on HOL who have viewed me in a different light and I have been enormously grateful for their support. Once again, high praise for your comments.Tips hat. Edited by Willo (31 Aug 2020 1.08pm)

I think a lot of the most critical and negative postings go on in the politics forum. i think people are pretty laser focused when it comes to things like politics and the debates aint gonna be pretty and when people are anonymous on the net civiity goes out the wondow. In normal life these topics wouldnt be discussed too openly and if they were people would be a lot more guarded in revealing their opinions. It means when people discuss things on the net they are prepared to be a lot more offensive and more antaganistic than they would be in real life. You can always look on in wonder at it all though which might be better than getting into the mess as there's a whole lot of opinions being thrown in and everyone thinks their right - including me!!!!

Agreed. I for one like reading the posts by both of you, it's part of the reason I come on here. As for the negative posts, these are just by some people who are just angry at the world and take it out over the internet, as they can hide behind a fake name. They don't even try to be humourous when making comments, as they likely don't have enough intelligence or wit to do so. Just ignore them.

It's not nice getting personal stuff. Criticise the post, not the poster.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

I thought from the title the OP was suggesting euthanasia for the politics posters. Couldn't agree more btw, I had a two month break - it can be a tiresome shouting match, and when threads descend into personal tit for tat: two a*seholes trying to convince their opponent that they're the ar*ehole and not themselves - what a bore! I also used to enjoy making the odd inflammatory comment then waiting for the explosion, but I don't feel the need anymore, a lot of these people just suffer from rage, they need winding down instead of winding up.

In the final analysis, the smorgasbord of divergent views is to be welcomed as HOL would be a poorer place if there was unanimity of opinions and this cherished site became one gargantuan 'Love-in'. What is not acceptable are smear campaigns against individuals with their honesty and integrity besmirched, and posters facing a hail of personal slurs. Some have faced shot and shell with high grade ordnance dropped on them from a height. Certainly, insults and ordure have rained down on me like Tomahawk missiles and I have faced unrelenting invective but I have always sought to respond with dignity and respect and not lowered my bar by hurling insults and using profane language.

I am reliably informed that the Tomahawk Land Attack Missile is a long-range, all-weather, jet-powered, subsonic cruise missile that is primarily used by the United States Navy and Royal Navy in ship- and submarine-based land-attack operations.

All true. Tho, i absolutely adore tomahawk steaks, medium done or, depending on size roasted in oven as a beef joint. In all fairness, i love all beef steaks, BUT, venison, OMG, that's a different meal, mmmmm
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Maybe we should have a no holds barred poster put down thread. Everyone gets one day to blast to their hearts contents, with no comebacks allowed. Then we park it for the rest of the year. Could be a money spinner, imagine the page views on that day. We could donate the proceeds to buying handjobs for all the overly stressed posters over there on the politics thread. Who wants to start....
