Congratulations to all wealthy students on their wonderful exam results today!

In these extraordinary times, the hard work and sacrifice of your parents in paying for private tutors, text books, and nannies to watch you do your homework has been more valuable than ever. Our nation will benefit from having mediocre minds bolstered by thousands of inherited pounds being the doctors, politicians and leaders of tomorrow. Congratulations!

As for the poor, hard luck. So you couldn't access the internet to do your homework? Well, haven't you ever heard of a library? Oh, they were all closed...but still, you should be able to learn everything by yourself by now anyway, that's why I told my Archibald I would be cutting his private tutor numbers from 8 to 7 after his exams. You got the grade from your mock exams? Well, now you understand why they're called 'mocks', or you you, if you weren't so stupid and poor. Enjoy your s***ty life serving me in Waitrose, or more probably Tescos.

Yours truly,

Boris, who totally gets what you've been through, after my totally normal upbringing and schooling.

In that vain then:

Congratulations to all the students for passing exams you have never actually sat and now you are complaining about your grades.

But seriously if anyone is upset with their grades the government should find a way for those pupils to sit the actual exam so they can prove the examiners wrong..

So let's give everyone A star then.
The grades given are probably about right for most.
Some students are thick c***s.

My thought this evening was that they can have a year off and cram that revision and retake into much less than half of a year, maybe earn some money and not have their first year at university on zoom.

I do wonder how many actually improve after mock exams. I know some do, but definitely not all. Many in state 6th forms aren’t suited to A levels or, because of GCSE’s, weren’t taught in a way that makes a smooth changeover into A levels.

The OP is a bit dramatic. If someone is destined to be a doctor then I doubt they’ll be bumping along with disappointing A level marks. More likely they’ll be in the books in free periods and evenings.

You forgot to congratulate all the foreign students whose parents paid s*** loads who have now been granted University places so their parents can pay s*** loads more.
Commiserations to those British students ( and there are many) who have lost their University places. These will undoubtedly be filled by foreign students who pay 2-3 times more in fees.
Have a go at the Universities mate who are thinking of money rather than educating our own

Why would you want to go to university this autumn anyway? Sounds like you’re being robbed of the experience. May as well pause it for a year.

I feel for them as mistakes are bound to be made. Some gain and some lose independent of their efforts and ability. That's a microcosm for adult life though really!

Hopefully those getting the s*** end of the stick can bounce back or appeal if they have a genuine case.

Good point. Universities each have their own approach, but some will starting off with virtual classes that students could realistically do from home anyway. £10,000 fees and accom costs on top to sit in front of your own laptop. It doesn't scream university experience or value for money. Better off having a gap year.

You sound like a bitter person, try taking a chill pill. Let’s not try and make political point scoring out of a national crisis

Exactly my younger brother an A student failed all his A levels as he had split up with his girlfriend. 6 months later he re-took and ace'd them.

Students think this is the end of the world it's the job of parents and teachers to calm them down and explain they can re-sit them.

I agree about not rushing to university as well lectures will be remote with the occasional supervised visit it will not be the "university experience" so I would take a year out resit any exams I need to and apply next year when things will hopefully be better.

Rich kids have the same amount of hours in the day as poor kids. It’s up to the individual how they spend their time.

I’d say pushy parenting is more important than whether The family has money. My mother in law, who like any good Jewish mum, spent 4 to 5 hours after school every night with my Mrs and her brother to make sure they went to law school. No private tutoring, just a mum who cared and prioritised education.

The Boris comment makes you look like a bell end.
