Not sure if some of the younger fans will even be aware of it, but those of us around at the time will never forget the disappointment and feelings of anger at the end of such an amazing season for our club. It just didn’t feel fair and 29 years later, it still smarts. Done a bit of digging in old newspaper reports and other interviews and media stuff I kept from the time, and have detailed as many of the facts surrounding the events leading to Liverpool getting their European ban overturned. In those pre internet days, it was something that was very quickly swept under the carpet by the football world; Liverpool finished second – us third, so what were we moaning about? Liverpool were cheered back into Europe by the media, while everyone at Palace stood there fuming at the total unfairness of it all. It was the beginning of the end of the best team in our history. (Sorry Team of the 80’s – you were the most exciting). It’s part of our history that has largely been forgotten, so thought I’d detail the events even just to get closure for myself if nothing else!

The Great UEFA U-turn. My only criticism of your excellent reminder of an awful injustice is that you didn't entitle it The Great UEFA Stitch-up. Well done anyway. It'll keep the anger simmering for a bit longer.

great video and a reminder of the bunch of scumbags their fans are and the bent old boys of uefa and the fa.
I am enjoying being back at Selhurst and having a beer with my mates just like we have done for the past 40 years. Through Thick and thin we stick with our club. Not chairman, players or managers, OUR CLUB! |

and if we had got into Europe we would have been beaten home and away in the preliminary rounds by Latvia's or Azerbajan's league cup winners, embarrassed like 95% of all the English teams after the Heysel ban.

My dream remains to be able to go to such a match in Latvia or Azerbajan to watch Palace play in European competition...

Good work Bubbs but made me very angry again that this happened! Just shows how even now the powers that be bow to Sniverpool all the time! Just look at the amount of Var and dodgy decisons go there way! Was at Anfield the season we got denied our righful place and a mate got arrested for his F**k Liverpool & F**k Uefa banner we held up before Kick off!
