Missing my boxing hugely and as I know there are some fight fans on here, thought I would add a new fantasy fight every couple of days to discuss.

First off:

Floyd Mayweather v Sugar Ray Leonard (at welterweight)

Floyd finish undefeated, although it could be argued he often cherry picked opponents to meet them when they were slightly past their prime. Floyd was a master defensive fighter and could frustrate anyone.

SRL appeared to have everything, lightning hands, footwork, tricks and intelligence, he also hand a handful of wins over all time greats who he did meet in their primes. Ray was also was a far more attack minded fighter and would often overwhelm fighters with his speed of punches.

Obviously this is completely subjective, but for me SRL picks off FM to win on points in a close contest.

What does everyone else think?

More matchups to follow later in week

Ray Leonard beats Mayweather all day with the same modern sports, ahem, 'diets' and training.

Obviously the fights you would want to see at heavyweight would be Marciano v Ali and Larry Holmes.
Foreman v Tyson.
Ali v Tyson.
Ali v Holyfield
Ali v Joe Louis
I'd also like to see any of the former champs v Tyson Fury and Frank Bruno and Joe Bugner v Anthony Joshua.
All fighters at their peak of course.
In Ali's case, his peak would probably have been while he was suspended for refusing the draft.

Lennox Lewis v Joshua.

Especially since Joshua recently called Lennox a clown. Let’s see how much of a clown he is when he’s jabbing you all around the ring round after round!

You were doing fine until then.

A much better fighter than he was given credit for.
Took Ali the distance twice and lost a gruelling fight to Frazier.

He just never used the weapons he had enough to be a great.

Lewis was in another class by my reckoning.

He destroyed a declining Tyson, beat Holyfield twice and stopped Vitali Klitchko even though out of shape.

No way Joshua does that.

Exactly he was durable and at his peak couldn't be put down but he had not "killer" instinct, pardon the pun.

It was said this was the result of Ulrich Regis dying from a brain haemorrhage shortly after fighting Bugner.

Whilst this was very sad he still continued to box so for me he was never aggressive enough more like a talented punch bag. If I was unkind I would saying he conned the public because he was good enough not to get hurt but didn't want to hurt others, which is kinda the point of boxing.

Anyway sport is about opinions I just never enjoyed his fights.

Brook v Khan. Brook would batter him and khan knows it!

Calzaghe v Froch. Just to stop the Cobra banging in about it all the time.

Pretty much agree with all this

Whilst he undoubtedly underachieved, I would say he never had the potential to become elite level.

Think Khan takes Brook myself. Not sure it will ever happen though which is ridiculous as it’s really the only fight out there for either of them.

Last time I watched Brook I thought he looked shot, not sure how much Khan has left though either.
