East Croydon Station to be demolished and moved

I don't live in Croydon so to those of you who do this may not be new however in case yo haven't heard. Sounds like a major redevelopment around the area.

Cheers Badger, this is the first I've heard of it. An extra platform is certainly needed considering how busy it is. I live a 5 minute walk away so was worried it would be a complete relocation. Judging by some of the other Croydon redevelopments, I can't imagine this will happen overnight!

It could do with happening. Will cost a fortune but need for capacity is growing in peak times.

this has been going on for about 2 years . Work will not start until at least 2025 , if it gets approval .

The frequency of service to Norwood junction needs to be improved. I have frequently got off a plane at Gatwick, travelled to east Croydon and fossillised waiting for a connection to NJnc.

Maybe get the cops to deal with the Croydon gangs. In the current climes, the demolition will then be done for free.

The virus lockdown has proven that many people can adequately support their job roles from home and don't need to be jumping on trains every day up to London. There could well be a permanent change to travelling dynamics around the whole London area.
