My top five.

Happy to be recommended anything

1, The Firm (original)

2, I.D.

3, Football Factory

4, The Firm (remake)

5, Awaydays

To me the original Firm is really the only film I’ve seen that captured the feeling of the terraces as that time. Oldman nails it.

Ok, here's mine:

1. The Damned United
2. Mike Bassett England Manager
3. Escape to Victory (I know a lot of people don't like it but I thought it was alright.)
4. Shaolin Soccer (Don't think it's very well known. used to be on Netflix but not sure if it is anymore, pretty funny film.) Here's a clip:

[Link]

5. An Impossible Job (documentary about Graham Taylor's time as England job and qualifying for the euros in 92.)

Added mention:
Worst football film - Zidane. Just about 30 cameras focused on Zidane for 90 mins. Got great reviews(don't know how) but I had to turn it off after 20 mins. Just too boring.

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

I D is based on real events, the writer is also responsible for the book ‘running with the firm’ which I’ve just finished reading. It’s about his time as an undercover cop with the Millwall bushwackers in the late 80’s.
Now that I’ve read the book, I’m going to watch I.D again to see how much of what he witnessed he put in the film

Directed by Phil Davis, who, was the 'Yeti' in the original BBC2 docu-film The Firm. supposed to be 'Palace' seeing as a lot of it was filmed in and around SP.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Was in the spurs end for Spurs away this season and found myself sat next to Bovver from Green Street (actor Leo Gregory). Shook me to my core to see the film was released 15 years ago.
Possibly the longest method acting stint in history because him and his pals were acting like right hooligans.
Solid, if slightly embarrassing, football film which i will give another go.

It isn’t supposed to be Palace. They just used Selhurst Park. Millwall are The Buccaneers instead of Bushwackers and Gary Oldman’s dad says they used to go down the old Kent Road to beat the shyte out of them. I’m not sure a lot of it was filmed in and around selhurst park apart from 2 mins going in through the corner of the Whitehorse and Main stand. Maybe a local pub for the last scene. The main characters lived in Essex.

Am I allowed to extend to small screen footballing dramas? Of which I can only think of two.

United that aired in the 1960s ( mostly filmed at Stoke's Victoria Ground). I can't find any footage but I suspect it would appear pretty dire now.

The Manageress 1989/90. A better production than United but still unconvincing.

Cheri Lunghi or some such. She wanted the team to be solid up front.

I can just about remember Zigger Zagger being shown in the late 60s but not much about it beyond the chant Zigger Zagger Zigger Zagger Oi Oi Oi.
