On BBC1 at 2.00 today

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

That’ll be enjoyable. Wonder if Mr. Pardew will be watching?

Just finished watching the full re-run on Palace TV, good old fashioned pitch, meaty challenges, didnt realise how cynical L'pool were & our poke n hope attitude. Our set pieces were brill. Who'dve thought Andy Gray could be a forward. We still couldn't make a simple pass even back then.

A joy to watch & many memories bought back.

Brought a tear to my eye.

Enjoyed telling my kids about the team and for them to be able to see players they have heard me speak about.

Great day.

I didn't realise at the time what an amazing shift Mark Bright put in in that game.

Here’s one for you all.

Below is the line up from the semi final and then the line up against Watford which was our last league game.
Which players from the semi final would have made the starting line-up for our last match. Bearing in mind we had many players missing from the semi including Wright and Young.

Have done mine. I make it 5 from each (as I cant split the keepers)

Watford game

Guaita

Ward
Cahill
Dann
Van Arnholt

McCarthy
Kouyate
McArthur
Ayew
Zaha

Benteke

Semi

Martyn

Pemberton
O’Reilly
Thorn
Shaw

Barber
Pardew
Thomas
Gray
Salako

Bright

My team

Martyn/Guaita (cant split them)

Ward
Cahill
Thorn
Van Arnholt

Zaha
Thomas
Gray
Ayew
Salako

Bright

We bought Eric Young a few months after the 1990 final along with John Humphrey and Glyn Hodges.

We started 89/90 season playing Jeff Hopkins and Andy Thorn at CB but Gary O’Reilly came in for Hopkins at some point. I think it was injury rather than lobbing our own Perry Suckling from 40 yards at home vs Millwall in that 4-3 winning thriller. Then of course Andy Thorn got injured so that defence that wasn’t our planned one, including Salako at left back did a great job vs a top class Liverpool side. That first goal for them made me fear the worst. Then it all changed after half time. Then in changed again and again. I think we were as knackered ss the players.

Fantastic result considering we had 6 first team players missing including talisman Ian Wright.

And of course they got the big team bias decision when Staunton went down for a very soft penalty.

I was sitting near the tunnel, along the touchline. The arrogant look on Daglish's face as he left the field and re-entered after half-time was astounding. The fact they took Rush off at half-time, when he could probably stayed on summed it up
