Some judge(s) have rejected the third runway at Heathrow down to environmental concerns or something.

I was never a particular fan of the Heathrow option but I'm a little narked about this decision.

If it's not to be Heathrow....let's have Boris's island....always liked that idea.

Can Cummings please hurry up and move onto the judiciary after he's replaced the civil service.....Our legal benches are full of leftists.

While I'm obviously not pro the immigration side of things I fully recognise that a first world economy requires first class air infrastructure.

Ship these climate loonies off to China and India, where the real emissions are coming from.....Then off to Africa to tell them how to develop in the fashion they appear to suggest for us.

More concerned with their virtue signalling I think.

What happens here in the UK won't make a jot of difference.....These do-gooders need to be where the action is in the main polluting countries.

They are like self appointed missionaries....who don't actually leave.

It wouldn't be so annoying if a lot of the scientists who calculated the present climate change didnt use the wrong figures.
That being present air quality not a default figure.
Also actually listen to a counter theory that if it's not happening and maybe why it's not happening.
And further not tax to inspire change if needed but reward for changing.

I suspect, like most things, it all comes down to money.

There have been some rather concerning developments in science over the last few decades. It seems less about progressing humanity and more about chasing the bucks.

Interesting that Heathrow are going to appeal the decision the government however is not.

Boris may get his way in the end without having to lay down in front of the bulldozers.

If HS2 means that London to Birmingham is only 5 minutes why not expand Birmingham airport instead

I believe that another runway, or another airport is needed. However, I lived at the end of the runway in Hounslow West for a few years. I don't know how high planes were over the house. I'm guessing 250-300ft.
When a jumbo went over the house would shake and you couldn't hear the TV or even music at full blast on the stereo. In those days there was also Concorde. No exaggeration to say that everything fell off tables and mantlepiece and you couldn't hear for a few seconds afterwards.
A few doors down some blue ice went six feet into the ground in someone's garden. Basically digging a square six foot deep hole and melting.
It took about six months to get used to the planes but visitors would jump when a plane went over. It was every 4 minutes from about 5.30 in the morning til about 12.30-1.30am. Night flights would often be chucked in.
I'm surprised I didn't go mad, however, I did find myself in my boxers shaking my fists and screaming abuse at a plane in my garden one night.
In short, I can understand why residents object.
Bring back zeppelins - the Hindenburg was quite comfortable, and certainly warm.
Without sounding like a hippy, I'm actually pretty sure a bit of different thinking would cut our reliance on jet power for your average travel. Keep jets for the military.

Whereas, of course, the third runway has absolutely nothing to do with money..

Small potatoes compared to this wet dream of a perfect environment.
