Couldn't find a thread on this. Surprising. Apparently it isn't a question of if this reaches pandemic level but when. It isn't whether the virus will take a firm hold in this country but when. They are talking 60% of the population contracting the virus with the expert I heard glibly reporting a 1% fatality rate. Back of fag packet calculation that's a figure north of 400,000 dead in this country alone. That has to be crap, right? I don't think even Spanish flu was as virulent and destructive as that and there the death rate was partly a factor of how weak and susceptible the affected populations were after the Great War.

Crikey. That sounds serious. A pandemic. Oh no! 60% of the population? I call it media hype.

You just gotta love globalism haven't you eh....easy come, easy go. What's the point of worrying about this now? Not as though we can do any fecking thing about it is it? It appears to be a flu and that means if we are in control of our borders this can be contained via testing of those coming in from known affected areas. If this isn't being done I'd be amazed....hang on...no I wouldn't. Incompetence is the expected order of the day. The s***e really hits the fan when we get a pandemic which is far more contagious and more fatal than a new flu.

I don't begin to understand all the complexities of a pandemic but aren't the most vulnerable people babies, oldies, and those already suffering from ill health? Keep taking the tablets and get those exercise bikes out of the garage folks!

Monitoring is being done but can never been 100% effective unless we close the borders completely and that would produce a catastrophe of it's own. I know what steps a local university are taking and they seem pretty comprehensive to me.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

My advice once this has gone away is get yourself some proper gas filtration masks. You'd be amazed at the stuff I've got stored away.

If the world is under threat from emissions it does make me wonder if a man made virus used against China is a possibility.
