Any thoughts on the latest Trump offer?....which I suppose in reality is the Kushner/Israeli offer.

From what I'm hearing Israel were of course consulted and are heavily promoting the deal, while the Palestinians weren't consulted and are saying 'a thousand times no'.

Netanyahu needs to stay in power to avoid criminal charges, so this is his chance to try and regain some popularity in the eyes of the right in Israel.

Trump is a narcissist and believes that you can solve the issue with savvy PR. He also is in a lot of litigious bother if he loses the next election, so needs a big stunt to boost his popularity and keep him in office.

Neither of them give a f***, I would suggest, particularly about human rights abuses, illegal settlements, child prisoners, chronic food and water shortages, millions of refugees, increases in radicalism or their own people's safety. Just as long as they can stay in power and avoid living out the rest of their lives in the courtroom.

I thought the Israeli's kept blowing up and blocking tunnels which have been built by Palestinians in the past.

Didn't Tony Blair sort everything out there years ago? I'm sure I remember him saying that he was going to.

We need a new Mo Mowlam to knock some heads together. Trump is (seen as being) in bed with Israel, even if he came up with a good idea, it would be rejected because of this.

Just seems to want to rubber stamp Jerusalem as totally Jewish and the settlers as full legal citizens of an enlarged Israel.

Even the Arab Israelis would lose their citizenship as their towns would be annexed to this shiny new Palestinian 'state' (without an army or an airport).

A quite obvious red herring to keep Trump and Netanayhu happy.

It doesn't look like it's a starter from what the pundits are saying and appears to heavily favour Israel.

That said my criticism of the Palestinian leadership is that they never offer an alternate plan, apart from wiping Israel off the map. It might help their cause if they put forward their own plan.

My suspicion is that the leadership doesn't want a solution because if that happened then their people would stop blaming Israel for everything and start looking at their own leaders a bit more closely and wondering what it is they do for them.

It's an old trick, closer to home the SNP bleat independence and blame the English any time people wonder why the schools and NHS Scotland are failing.

And it's not just the Palestinians across the Middle East other regimes are happy to prolong the conflict for the same selfish reason, if it goes away they're scared that their folk will start to question their leadership.

I wonder if this conflict will ever be resolved. As for us we should just keep out of it beyond urging both sides to to talk peace.

What's Hezbollah got to do with it? They're in Lebanon, you must mean Hamas.

All of the above,...and more. This is the way politics works. To try to manipulate a situation for your benefit. FAKE NEWS.

just a way of distracting US and Israeli voters at a time of bad news and before election campaigning begins.
