Great result today and a great run of results recently considering injuries to key players. Just been reading the McCarthy thread plus the fact Cenk scored today and it's become apparent that in recent times a lot of the signings while they were not an immediate successes are starting to bear fruit. Even the players who have not been able to play regularly through injuries such as Sakho I am sure are having a positive effect on the group with their presence and experience. A lot of the posts have been pretty negative in recent seasons regarding recruitment but for me, we have built a pretty solid group of players who are starting to realize their potential as a team. I know our position in the league helps but I've always felt we've underachieved and feel that this is an incredibly positive period for our club.
Love it.

its taken you til today to realise this...i, for one are really happy with our recruitment policy over the last few years...shows if you are savvy enough you can compete well.

he takes a fair amount of s*** on these boards, but fair play to DF and the job he does...hes doing well given then parameters he is given.

Agreed.

Not withstanding that our rise also started with him and remember just how close we came to making Brighton happy.

Under achieved????

We are a club playing out of a Nissan hut with the budget of a corner shop competing with mega corporations with turnovers equivalent to the GDP of a central American republic.

We have been punching above our weight since we came up.

However agree OP point about an astutely curated team.

You sure about that?

Wasn't there a study the other days which ranked Palace 30th in the "richest clubs over the world"??

That must be based on tv income - not sure we make a profit.

While the players we’re signing who’ve already played in this division we’re not getting &rse fvcked by scousers etc atm, and it looks like they could or should go onto prove their worth, we’re still getting it wrong with players outside of the premier league, whether they’re in Britain (championship) or not (Meyer signed because of reputation and saleable asset reasons), or not signing anyone at all (plenty on this list), which is what we need to do over the longer term. Macarthy has zero asset value in x seasons. I don’t include Guaita and keepers and I’d be surprised if DF knows how to scout them at the highest highest level.

While I’m happy a few of our recent signings, it’s the potential from below the top level it looks like we have no idea on whatsoever still.

I am no up with how, why and who signs certain players - other than as herein suggest, but as much as I am a fan of RH I get frustrated with his reluctance to blood youngsters and otherwise bench warmers. If I am not mistaken our much maligned previous manager brought in PVA and Riedewald, the latter being the brunt of much criticism in these pages during his first few appearances. It shows that FDB saw something in them that Roy was only forced into trying recently due to the injury 'crisis'. The same can be said of AWB - who again was a 'sleeper' until Roy's hand was forced due to injuries. Players need game time and to settle in, give them confidence and get used to team play and the pressure of the premiership etc. Give them a chance and we could all be surprised!

Please stop provoking people, thank you.
