Final points total?

Down in the relegation slots, Norwich look doomed and Bournemouth have collapsed - they look abject in their match v Watford who currently lead 2-0. But the contenders for the third relegation slot are averaging around one point per game which would take them to 38 by the end of the season. That is the usual total required for safety but I reckon that season the safety total could be 40. In which case, what total do the pessimists among us reckon Palace will reach? And the optimists? I've just made some pessimistic forecasts about our remaining matches and still reckon we will reach 42. Anyone else? (Worth bearing in mind we have a tough last six games.) The right place at the right time

I think we will be OK although our next few matches are also all loseable propositions. As you say Norwich looked doomed and Bournemouth are in a tail spin. Spunking 17 million on Solanke who now has 1 goal in 50 PL appearances was a colossal error and Callum Wilson has had a very poor season by his standards I would be surprised if all of the teams 13th to 18th reach 38 points

I would be surprised if all of the teams 13th to 18th reach 38 points

Palace will definitely be safe. The injured players bar Schlupp most will hopefully return before February (PVA, Townsend) However, I do think being in the top 10 may be difficult at the end of the season. Arsenal, Everton, Southampton all one point behind. Don't think Newcastle or Brighton will challenge for the top 10. But West Ham could if they go on a run and results of other clubs go for them. A top 10 finish for Palace would be amazing we would need 50 plus points to finish in the top 10. So out of our last 16 games 6 wins, 4 draws, 6 losses should be enough. But having said that, it will also not be easy.

However, I do think being in the top 10 may be difficult at the end of the season. Arsenal, Everton, Southampton all one point behind. Don't think Newcastle or Brighton will challenge for the top 10. But West Ham could if they go on a run and results of other clubs go for them.

A top 10 finish for Palace would be amazing we would need 50 plus points to finish in the top 10. So out of our last 16 games 6 wins, 4 draws, 6 losses should be enough. But having said that, it will also not be easy.

50 points would be amazing, and is certainly something to aim for.
On another note I really hope Wet Spam drop into the bottom three. Not looking good for Norwich, pity, I have a friend who is quite realistic about their chances; Bournemouth look in freefall, so playing any of those teams fighting for survival will be tough

Playin each other next week which could be the kiss of death for one of them. Villa have taken a hammering today as well so all 3 looking shaky. Quietly optimistic we can survive this season as I feel we have over performed looking at our transfer dealings which does need improving via that area.

I expect Norwich and Villa to go, and Bournemouth if they dont do something now. Well pleased if Villa go down. They have bought loads of absolute rubbish, and have the most overrated player Grealish. Norwich just didn't spend any money when they went up. With inuries, they were threadbare. I think will have enough points to survive.

Newcastle and Burnley could very easily be in trouble I feel, Norwich seemed to be improving but have recently stuttered again and Aston Villa just cannot get any momentum no matter how hard they try, can't see Bournemouth or Watford being in any trouble come the end, at the moment it appears to me that Burnley, Villa and Norwich are in the worst situations.

Newcastle and Burnley could very easily be in trouble I feel, Norwich seemed to be improving but have recently stuttered again and Aston Villa just cannot get any momentum no matter how hard they try, can't see Bournemouth or Watford being in any trouble come the end, at the moment it appears to me that Burnley, Villa and Norwich are in the worst situations.

I notice a reluctance to predict our final points tally (people don't want to tempt fate I imagine). I'm not going to either but I do believe we will be OK. Just hoping City won't do a Villa job on us and knock our confidence. Although our next two home games are winnable, both Southampton and Sheffield United will be difficult to beat. I'm hoping for 40 plus points by the end of March for reasons already stated concerning our run-in.

I notice a reluctance to predict our final points tally (people don't want to tempt fate I imagine). I'm not going to either but I do believe we will be OK. Just hoping City won't do a Villa job on us and knock our confidence.
Although our next two home games are winnable, both Southampton and Sheffield United will be difficult to beat.
I'm hoping for 40 plus points by the end of March for reasons already stated concerning our run-in.
