no doubt, we all have memories to share. Retrospectively, i would hope with some humour.

Home: Crewe at Selhurst, midweek evening KO. It was pi55ing down, and a waterfall was drenching me from the guttering of the Arfer Waite roofing.
I nearly died from hypothermia.

A Championship match,..we lost 2-0

Same season (I think), around 2007. Cardiff away. 5hlt food from Ninian Park. Couldn't tell if it was animal, vegetable or mineral. Same went for the ground staff and fans.

We got bummed 2- 0

Fond memories indeed

I disengage, I turn the page.

The game when we gave Charlton the entire Arthur wait stand around about 2000 when they serenaded us with we'll never play you again it didn't go entirely to plan for them although they won that game 1 nil kitson goal I think it's amazing to think we gave a London club in the championship the whole stand

walking down the holmesdale road to see the palace aces!

Birmingham just after Hillsborough and a few Millwall home games in the 60's - the Holmesdale was a battle field.

80s-anything to do with shrewsbury.

Southampton-awful, we'd often have 90% and still pull a 0-1 loss out the bag (and of course the semi final loss)

A midweek game against Leicester late 1970's. Travelled there by coach and shoved into the away end at that craphole called Filbert Street. Game ended 1-1 and the coach dropped me off at Victoria at some ungodly hour, midnight to 1am or thereabouts. Caught the night train to Gatwick and hitch hiked to Horsham. There was hardly any traffic at that time of the night so I started walking to my home in Shipley, about six and a half miles.

Two thirds of the way a jam sandwich slowly passed me, the coppers glared at me as they passed. I was wearing a bright orange cagoule as it was raining, so I was hard to miss. They drove off, and a couple of minutes later they were back. They pulled over and questioned me. They asked me who I was, where I had been, and where was I going. I answered their questions and they searched me, finding my match programme for the game and my wallet. In my wallet they found a picture of my then girlfriend, and they asked who she was, where she lived, etc.

They explained there had recently been a number of burglaries in the area. I said if I was a burglar, would I be so stupid as to be wearing a bright orange cagoule? They had no answer to that.

Then they asked me if I worked. I said I was a squaddie on leave and showed them my MOD Form 90, Military Identification Card. They asked me for my leave pass. I didn't have one for the simple reason they were no longer issued. The coppers didn't believe me and invited me to get into their car and drove me to their nick in Horsham.

I was put in a room and interviewed by a sergeant, who asked me the same questions as the coppers who had picked me up. I asked him if I was being arrested, and he replied that I hadn't, not yet anyway.

When we got to the bit about me being in the army he copied the details from my ID card, asked me what unit I was with and he disappeared to "make further enquiries".

Fifteen minutes later he came back and he said I was free to go. He had called my unit in Tidworth and they had confirmed that yes, I was on leave, and, no, leave passes were no longer issued. I was not AWOL, a deserter or on "manoeuvres" (Why do non military people always refer to army exercises as manoeuvres?? They are not bloody manoeuvres, they are exercises!! Grrrr!!).

I asked him if I could have a lift home, or, at the very least, be dropped off where I was picked up, two thirds of the way to Shipley. He said no, no cars were available as they were "attending an incident". b******.

I trudged the six and a half miles in the rain to Shipley and got home as the sun was rising, cream crackered and thoroughly pissed off.

So, yes, for me, that had to be a very bad match day.

Almost as bad as the Tottenham game earlier this season.

I had parked my car at Cheshunt and got the train to White Hart Lane station. We were four nil down at half time.

During the interval, sitting next to my grand daughter, I suddenly had a hot flush and then started vomiting. A steward appeared, and he called a medic, who shoved me into a wheelchair and took me to their medical room. I was still vomiting and the stadium doctor had me carted off to the North Middx Hospital.

At the hospital they took blood samples and gave me a shot that stopped the vomiting. The blood results came back, my electrolytes were at a very low level because of the vomiting, and they set up a saline drip to replace them. They were concerned that my white blood cell count was high...22 when the normal level is between 4 and 11...which was all the more concerning because I have a chronic form of leukaemia, which is controlled by targeted therapy.

The duty oncologist was called, and after we had a chat, he decided I had better see a haematologist. I had already told them I was under haematology at my local hospital, but they ignored that and called oncology. When the haematologist arrived I was vomiting again and had to have another anti throwing-up shot.

In the end it was decided that I was suffering a side effect of the targeted chemo meds. I didn't think it was that, but I was so desperate to get home I nodded my head and agreed with him, promised to call my doctor, and said the things he wanted to hear. I was discharged at about 4am, with a packet of anti-sickness meds.

As the car was parked at Cheshunt, my daughter picked up my other 'alf, and drove to collect my car, and then onward to North Middx Hospital. My daughter went home with my grand daughter, leaving a very bored other 'alf to keep me company.

I didn't half get some grief from my mates at work. Things along the lines of, "Watching Palace really does make you sick" and rubbish like that.

I consider that as a very bad match day as well!

(Apologies for the rambles. I'm sitting at home, bored, the other 'alf visiting her son, and with five chihuahuas sprawled all over me)

Happy Christmas to all!

Millwall at home sometime during the 1970's...there was an almighty great bundle in the terrace at the front of the then "New Stand", now known as the Arthur.

0-3 v weed at goldstone boxing day 40 years to this day with bits of broken glass raining in from the friendly home fans in the adjacent section (they beat Man City 4-1 in the follow up home game and cud be heard singing "you're worse than Crystal Palace" from the terraces)

0-5 v Wimbledon div 2 1984 - the cries of 'team of the eighties' and 'we want six' still wrankle

agree about 80s and anything to do with Shrewsbury, comparison can be made with Chesterfield in the 70s

Yes, the 0-3 Boxing Day defeat is up there among the top crap days - standing in a pen and being held back by the cops at the end as well

29th December 1984 - Oxford Utd away.

Lost 0-5, conceded 3 in first 10 minutes if memory serves.

I also think they missed a penalty.

And it pissed down from start to finish

That’s odd. Before I even read your message I also thought of that Crewe game.
Did we lose 4 1? Can’t quite remember. Think Geoff Thomas was a sub for Crewe that day.

under Peter Taylor and Neil Warnock we had some new lows, we never ever used to lose at home to Plymouth and 1-3 at home to an admittedly good Colchester side I managed to miss - I also missed the 0-4 v scunthorpe - there was a 5-0 away at Wigan, posh 0-3 in the league cup under Mullery and any away game at Gillingham - I did get to see George Burley's last game, the 0-3 at Millwall when Puncheon scored a hattrick for them, the scum singing going down, going down - that was a genuinely wretched new years day!
