MOTM did moan about VAR but not about the penalty. It did look a dive in real time but when I saw it again I think VAR got it right. Not sure about the disallowed goal though although I will take it all day long.

This is Clattenf#ck implicitly trying to justify his booking Wilf for a non-dive v Watford. I remember him saying afterwards that diving was "very difficult to detect" - implying only a top detective like him can do it. In fact, Cluntenb#rg showed his standard anti-Palace bias in making that call, and showed what an inept ref he was. I was astonished that Atkinson, normally a good ref as Roy said, made that call, and wondered if he was C#ntenf#ck is disguise. But happily we now have VAR to overrule mistakes and/or bias of that kind. But how bizarre of the Mail to bring Clattent#sser back from the dead.

I agree. I have no idea why their goal was chalked off and will take it. The reason I’m happy to take it is because people like Clattenburg have, for years, given the benefit to the big clubs. Players like Zaha were labelled and the refs opinion was seemingly based upon that reputation rather than what was in front of them. Already he has shown his true colours by chipping in, although there’s a reason why the Mail Online is seemingly his only mouthpiece. VAR has removed the obvious big 6 bias - that existed before (in my opinion) and, whilst there are still shocking decisions, it’s balanced.

Their third should have stood. Too many things happened simultaneously to say their player alone committed a foul.

For our penalty, I think the fact Wilf got booked was helpful. Was there contact? Clearly. It had to be given or a really unjust yellow would have stood.

Clattenburg shouldn't be allowed a platform.

With the greatest of respect, I fervently disagree.

Clattenburg writes with great authority based on his experience as one of the top referees in the world.

This is my last comment on this thread as I have no desire for it to evolve into one of those dastardly Willo threads.

That man was a world ass ref... unless man utd was one of the teams. Even die hard manure fans I know referred to him as the twelfth man.

You are deluded. He is a terrible referee. Did you see the FA Cup final by any chance?
The man has seen yesterdays penalty from a million angles and still thinks its a dive? Clearly his decision making is shocking.

I couldn't care less what Clattenburg thinks. Wilf was definitely fouled and we were very lucky to get away with that 3rd Arsenal goal but that's football for ya.

I’m sorry but that “Willo thread” stuff is cobblers. You are allowed to debate a different view. However I am firmly of the opinion that his experience would be better used commenting on the flaws of VAR in general, rather than, once again commenting on a specific decision, pointing to a specific player - who he has, in the past, made poor decisions against and especially in a weekend full of them. He sets himself up.
