My son has had an interview, and has had no response from the employer is this normal now these days?

I understand they can't tell everyone who has applied due to lots of applications but surely if you have been interviewed?

If it was more than 7 days ago I would get him to call them and politely ask if they have made a decision.

If you don't hear it's not always bad news sometimes its more mundane like the MD is on holiday and has to sign off. My old company was notorious for interviewing people and then asking for permission internally to hire, the wrong way round of course.

Poor if it's been a while, but maybe indicative - but no harm in asking for feedback.

No excuse in today's instant emails etc. Two things piss me off, firstly people not paying me on time & people not responding to texts, emails, voicemails etc.
I'm not sure how large this company are but surely a stock email saying something along the lines of
'Thanks for attending the Interview, but on this ocassion you were unsuccessful' would suffice.

seems to be the industry norm now ghosting people who have done interviews. even happened to me for an internal role not long ago and had to chase them up.

Answer is if they are not correct enough to keep you informed correctly, do you want to work for them in the first place?

He hasn't got the job - get over it and on to the next one.

Maybe he's just not as smart as Mummy thought..

That's really uncalled for and in the circumstances very unhelpful

Really? I would argue it’s most helpful.

Can’t see the point fretting over this myself. Looks like he hasn’t got the job so move on and focus on the next one.

Unfortunately life has changed. Courtesy rejection letters are a thing of the past.

I don't think the OP is fretting over it, just a general request if anyone on here knows what the deal is these days.

My son will not loose sleep over not getting a job and can handle being unsuccessful it's the common courtesy that annoys him.

When someone attends an interview at least give them a response? Especially as they have spent time and effort to attend, employers are quick to complain When people don't turn up for interviews, if there was a shortage of candidates there attitudes would be so much different.
