In my line of work I get to meet people / see their homes across the class spectrum.
Very interesting.
In general, academic middle class types seem to have somewhat untidy chaotic homes where the children are pretty free spirited.
The business type middle class have tidy smart homes to the degree that even the kids rooms are totally controlled & tidy ,run by the parents with little input from the child that resides in it.
the fridge contents tells a tale too.
One client had virtually no food except packets of waitrose sandwiches!
The other extreme is the fridge full of natural veggie so that it looks like somebodys thrown it in with mud off a shovel & its organised by stig of the dump.

Watched the sketch and found it a little more nuanced than the 'working v middle' class trope with racial stereotypes coming into play.

My Croatian wife is convinced that our school (a Croydon Comprehensive that gets more right than wrong) puts more pressure on kids with foreign parent(s) because it has more faith in them to ensure their children do well.

That the aspirations that drove these parents to leave their home countries and come and live here can be effectively harnessed more easily than the natives who almost have had it to easy in someways and who, for a variety of cultural reasons, put less emphasis on academic success.

I am sure all sorts of holes can be bored into that, and I guess the story is probably different in other parts of London with different socio-economic pressures but I can see where she is coming from.

All the kids I know going on to study medicine and so on all have at least one foreign parent.
