Hmm an interesting article. Sounds like some work needs to be done to get the lads out on loan. Maybe that'll form part of Derry's role. Looks like we need to create a better pathway through for players. It'll be an intriguing couple of years considering the extra funding going in.

This article adds a few more bits in add well...

Richard Shaw comes across as exactly the type you need at a football club.

He was a quality player for us and I see a bright future for him in coaching and/or management.

"The harsh reality is, the guys that are here now are not going to make it at Crystal Palace, they are not going to make it in the Premier League. It is tough, it is hard. They might make it in League One, Two or the National League."

Absolutely extraordinary to read this. I do hope he meant to say "most of them aren't going to make it", not that he has no hope in any of his current players being of any value to our club in the PL.

I think he means where they first establish themselves as first team players.....not where they end up in their careers.

Regardless footballers who are bothered by opinions aren't going to make it anyway.

You wonder if AWB was one who "wont make it here"
A pure fluke that he got a game and the rest as they say is history.
Just a chance is all they need.
How uninspired they must feel now.
Why is it rumoured that a german club is after jadan and we or rather our management cant see a slight bit quality.
Pisses me right off.
We dont buy and we dont use our youth.
Stagnant and stale.

AWB was given a game and Shaw was part of his development and feedback.

He knows what he's talking about.....you don't just give players games.

Coaches don't exist to say nice and warm words to people.

Jadan is keeping his options open. The club are well aware of his potential but can’t force him to sign a contract.

Is this the same Richard Shaw who said in 1995, "I don't want to stay at this club a minute longer than I have to"?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I thought that was Gareth Southgate.

Didn’t Shaw and Coleman both threaten to go on strike unless they were sold ?
