First off, a moment of memory for the innocent people whose lives were horrifically ended that day. Now: Governmental conspiracy or no governmental conspiracy? I'm for no conspiracy. I believe what we don't know amount to intelligence failures and incompetence....and possible collusion of foreign agencies.

No conspiracy, just extreme incompetence. The constant holding back of the facts involving possible links to Saudi government involvement for around 15 years though, was shameful. As usual, money and influence trumps everything. Edited by dollardays (11 Sep 2019 11.31pm)

Not according to the NY Fire Department. As self serving as governments can be, call me naive but I think somewhere up the chain this would've been stopped rather than planned. It was a terrible, and harrowing event that comes down to overlooked risk. Granted, it was very cynically used afterwards to start wars that were tremendously profitable, but government and corporate elements always look to take events like this and use them. Just logically, the more people are involved in something the harder it is to mask. I can accept that the Saudi governemnt may have had links to this, but I don't believe that it was planned by the US government or anything like that.

Considering the amount of time that the planes were hijacked, where were the US jet fighters to intervene? The list goes on.......and on.......and on.

As chilling as it is to think about, hijackings hardly ever happen now for two reasons. Firstly a re-inforced cockpit, and secondly if people are on a hijacked plane, they instantly think it's seriously likely that they're going to die and they will endevour to do something about it. That didn't really use to be the case. Granted it did eventually dawn to many on board these planes how serious it was and in some instances they bravely tried to act, but generally speaking pre 9/11 it was a different world. As such, I just don't think that this was something that people in and out of government truly thought would 'actually' happen and so the response was distantly sub par. The trouble with piecing together reasons for why it was all some kind of government conspiracy is that the tentacles reach out further and further and so many people end up being involved that it becomes a bit farcical. As in, if you're saying that Bush didn't flinch because he knew, then there's a lifelong involvement from someone who could tell the truth about it at any time.. if you're saying that jet fighters were delayed so that they didn't intervene, then there's another group of involved people and so on.
