I assume one of Dion-Curtis Henry or Joe Tupper is a keeper? I haven't even heard their names among the under 21s. Are they merely there on the basis of age otherwise we can't use them even in am emergency?

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

I think both of them are the oldest of the eligible U21's so as we had 23 players over 21 for the squad registration, they probably got added as a matter of course. None of the other clubs felt the need to add to their list to make 25 though so not sure why the club didn't just leave them in the U21 list.

It does mean in January, we can remove both of them and sign 2 players without having to sell anyone to make room.

Doesn't take away from the fact we should have brought in 2 full backs and another striker this window.

Looking forward to January though and signing Matty James and Isaac Hayden.

We would all like to have seen a few more fresh faces join in the summer however here is the way I see it:
We sold a right back who had one premier league season under his belt for 50 million. That seems like decent business to me. We are left with the players we had before AWB emerged on the scene, so not a disaster.
We bought Ayew as a squad player for 2.5 million. He probably has been our best player so far this season. If he continues his good form he will be worth much more.
In McCarthy and Camarasa we brought in experience and cover for midfield roles offering some flexibility but certainly in McCarthy’s case the type of player Roy likes.
A free 3rd choice keeper.
As we have done over previous seasons we may look to bring a striker in on loan in January if we are struggling.

What part of "they are just making up the numbers" are you having difficulty understanding?

I seem to remember both Guaita and Hennessy were both injured at the same time and Speroni stood in last season. Are you suggesting we should be putting Zaha in goal, if our only 2 keepers are injured in your view, if he is the best outfield player in goal.

5 goalkeepers in the 25 man squad on the basis of Joe Tupper and Dion Curtis Henry being over 21 on the 01/01/1998. If they were born after this date then they would not need to be registered as they are classed as ‘under 21’.

You may not realise this, but if the club have a player over 21 years old at the club they must be registered as part of the 25 man squad unless they are out on loan. You cannot submit a 23 man squad leaving out players over 21 if they are still at the club. This basically means you cannot pick and choose and leave players out of the 25 man squad in order to sign more free agents etc

This is also why we released Kleton Petroneou with a year left on his contact a few years back as he had to be Registered and was taking a place.
