Pointless to speculate until the transfer window closes. 4 or 5 signings and we're easily mid-table. Fail to get a striker and right-back and we're fighting relegation.

I'd take 17th but hope that it would mean a new stand and some young talent next season.

Given that our position last season was achieved through an away day successful counter attacking policy, I would like to see a reversal in form and turn our abysmal home record into wins. I genuinely cannot see us matching our away form from last season, so form at home is essential.

If Zaha comes back in the team with a positive attitude it will give the other players a massive boost and if Benteke can finally start finding the net we will be fine. If either of those things doesn’t happen it will be a long old season. Also on the back of the AWB thing I can definitely see a couple of the youngsters getting thrown in.

I hope you’re right but I can only see 2 new players coming in and they are probably going to be fairly uninspiring like Cahill and Camarasa.

My view also I believe - most of the time - you get what you deserve. I believe that short term necessities like Benteke & Sakho are now "bearing fruit" in terms of tying up finance to develop the squad now when it's badly needed. We'd actually have been better - long term - to do a Burnley, refuse to invest in expensive short term solutions, & think strategically (incl accepting relegation in the belief that the process will result in prompt re-entry whilst being stronger). The only time Parish has thought strategically was over FdB but - the damage had already been done on finances & he selected totally the wrong bloke for the job.
