What a desperate plea for work. Imagine giving all your money away so that a few bums can have a kick about? Could've built a shelter or sponsored a rehab program, surely?

Probably annoying when a leftie can earn more in a day than you earn in a year I’d imagine

Film actors work part of the year. It’s a very charitable and admirable thing to do though, from a celebrity I actually like, whether it’s his ‘entire fortune’, ‘everything’, or not, which I doubt.

Bloody Hollywood champagne socialists doing awful things like funding a homeless World Cup I don't have a problem with what he is doing. He was on Talksport a while back explaining what the homeless world cup is all about it's more than just kicking a ball about and previous ones have helped people. Whether it's an effective use of money I don't know but it certainly highlights the issue of homelessness and at least he's trying something. I am sick of virtue signalling celebrities who finger point at a problem offer no solutions and then move onto the next social media hotspot thinking their job is done. Good luck to the man for putting his money where his mouth is. He is a successful in demand actor so if this does drain him hopefully he will make it back and some. I am the first to complain about the Lilly Allen's and Russell Brands of the world so it would be churlish of me not to approve of his actions. If more celebrities were like him and Elton John (millions to aids) I think people would pay more attention. Michael Sheen maybe a leftie but for me actions always speak louder than words. Well done Michael.

Yes, he’s naturally a very likeable guy. I always enjoy his work and interviews. Looks like he’ll be doing a lot more. Hopefully he won’t have to take work he’d rather not do and wouldn’t if he hadn’t given all or most of his money away.

Yeah it's probably just his liquid wealth but still fair play. He'll probably still get called a hypocrite for not actually selling his house and making himself proper homeless too.

I'll be playing in that next year thanks to Universal Credit. Universal Credit. I have just had my first statement through and they have given me the grand total of £1 to pay my rent. My job ended 30/6. I received my June pay (up to 30/6) on 19/7. This pay was for June NOT July and they have taken that off my Universal Credit payment for the period 1/7/19 - 1/8/19!!!! I hate this Government. IDS and Rudd especially. Can't see how I'll not be homeless. Life is such sh*t.

I'm not sure that I entirely get the concept of this homeless world cup, but it's not every day that somebody gives away everything to help the homeless or anybody for that matter, so good luck to him. There are enough people hoarding their wealth out there, so it's always nice to hear stories that come from a more charitable perspective.

Bloody Hollywood champagne socialists doing awful things like funding a homeless World Cup Reading the Mail Online? Tut tut! I found out recently that an old school friend of mine is now living on the streets due to a number of reasons of his own making. A Hollywood actor funding this homeless World Cup is not a bad thing per se, but it doesn't really solve the deeper issues such as mental health which is a key factor. He doesn't want to put anyone up in one of his houses either. To me, it's simple virtue signalling from yet another wealthy actor. Edited by Penge Eagle (01 Aug 2019 12.28pm)
