We've sold AWB and haven't replaced him. Wilf wants to go. Our strikers couldn't score in a brothel. Our owners are trying to flog us. The season starts in two weeks and we haven't signed anyone. That's the bad news.

The good news is, things could be worse. I've just read the article below which comes from a time that was our lowest ebb, certainly in recent years, and it hit home how lucky we are. Remembering how awful I felt thinking we were going bust, it suddenly doesn't seem so bad 'only' having Christian Benteke up front as we start yet another season in the Prem.

Disclaimer: this post doesn't preclude me from moaning on other threads.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

True, but you won’t find many businesses looking back 9 years ago to gauge their recent development or lack of. We spent all of the 10/11 season over 20 places lower than than the last 6 seasons.

It’s going to be a long season again plus maybe one or two more because of how cpfc has been managed and spent into this situation.

When I started going we were in division 3, which means we were as s*** as Gillingham are now, so things could definitely be a lot worse.

For a club that tries it’s hardest to fcuk up in the transfer market, we’re not doing too bad considering, another season locking horns with the elite and Brighton

What a post! I'm stealing this for the inevitable bull s*** of "be careful what you wish for" and "Charlton should never have got rid of Curbishley" that all the tossers will trot out when we're 18th at Crimbo

You’ve only got to look at Sunderland, Portsmouth and Ipswich, three big clubs who are languishing in League 1 while we look forward to another money-spinning season in the Premier League and there are numerous other clubs who have fallen on hard times and would gladly swap places with us. Things could certainly be a lot worse,

We're a small club enjoying our greatest ever spell in the top tier. One day the 'dream' will end and the natural order will see us playing 2nd tier football again, our 'home'.
Things will never change until we relocate so just enjoy the moment for what it is

Exactly, if we end up going down, s*** happens, it’s not like we haven’t been relegated before and it’s only a game FFS. Some people are just angry by nature and need to vent I think. I’d like a few more signings and do wonder what goes on compared to other clubs, but I just sit on my arse watching the games and can just fcuk off home afterwards and not worry about it, I don’t have to run the club, balance the books or organise the transfers.

We should’ve attempted and committed to a strategy a few seasons ago, but at the right time and with the right people. Sadly we tried it badly.

However, we may come out of the other side of whenever Zaha is sold and build a strong and more dynamic team. Just the other ageing players to replace in the next couple of seasons as well.

We may well go through the trap door when our time comes, or we might stay here, but that’ll need the right people captaining the ship. Don’t hold your breath there.

Are you Steve Parish

Until this sentence I'd have laid good money on you being Dougie Freedman.

Yes things could always be worse but I kind of feel we really have to let go of the administration thing... I for one always did and still do like Jordan.. He let his heart rule his head but always wanted the best for us. He became chairman at something like 33 years old... Absolutely mental at the time.

It was what it was but we are nearly a decade down the line now... The time for being grateful, which we always will be needs to be at the back of people’s minds and we need to always look ahead.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!
