Looks like the Iranians are playing with fire here. Of course no condemnation at all from the EU (as of yet), so we rely on support from our American cousins as usual....

Send the entire British Navy and scuttle anything looking remotely like an Iranian vessel before raining hell fire and brimstone onto their naval bases, ports, cities, civilians etc. I'm talking maximum aggression. f*** em.

Send the entire British Navy .... .... and embarrass ourselves further with our meagre resources? We already have Europe splitting their sides laughing at us so let's not spread the pi$$ taking further afield. We have no leadership, no credible foreign policy nor the means or will to back anything up. Welcome to Britain in the 21st century!

We may no longer be Kings of the high seas, but one of our modern aircraft carriers would easily be able to send Iran back to the stone ages.

No of course not and you clearly know nothing about mounting and maintaining an overseas military campaign. Don't criticise personally unless you think things through. Secondly, the aircraft carriers may have provided jobs for our failing shipyards but they are not much use without aircraft. We have to rely upon other nations to provide them until all ours are built and our pilots fully trained. We only deployed our first RAF F35s operationally a matter of weeks ago.

Whose wishing to 'mount and maintain' an overseas campaign? What on earth are you waffling about? Why would Britain wish to fight a campaign against Iran? The destroyer we sent is very capable of sinking gunboats and helicopters out of the sky as a defensive measure to protect shipping under our flag. If Iran wished to escalate beyond that then we wouldn't even have to be the ones to respond and would probably withdraw this particular destroyer.......or we could send more air-defence destroyers there if that was the decision. Our Navy is significantly more powerful than anything Iran has and most of its sophisticated technical weaponry is based upon defensive action and obtained from Russia.....and its air-force is full of forty year old model craft. I know precisely what is happening here and what Iran is doing.....it's as plain as day to anyone with more than a couple of brain cells.

Actually, we have two warships in the area. That's not nearly enough to be effective but it's a huge logistical commitment for our stretched military. Both ships constantly need supplies and personnel to remain on station. Anyway, I'll let you win and cower timidly in the face of your superior intellect and personal abuse.

What kind of snowflake calls that 'personal abuse'?....Anyway you started up slagging off my country with nonsensical criticisms over bugger all. Also I hear we are sending a third, HMS Kent...a Frigate....So much for 'meagre resources'.
