I see the Jedi has been released by AV. Clearly he has strong leadership skills, a great affiliation for Palace, strong links to both SP and DF etc.

Is there/should there be a role for him in the coaching team with a view to potential managerial succession? Thoughts?

respectfully, there are better options out there.

however, i would not oppose a role for him of some sorts.

Can you name a few better options please?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

would love him back at palace in some way one day, there's just something about him, he helped change the mentality of our team to winners!

Same. He’s one of a few players I have tremendous respect for.

Only had limited ability but boy did he make the most of what he had, with Palace and also as captain of Australia.

It's a fair point that he might wish to keep playing. However, he wouldn't be a bad defensive midfield cover to have available alongside a move into coaching. I haven't read anything about his future plans so will be interesting to see what unfolds.
As an aside, does anyone know which clubs Julian Speroni has been linked with? He also indicated he wanted to carry on playing.

He is still knocking around Aston Villa.

After being involved with their Under-18's he was recently appointed as their 'loan player development coach'.

Put simply, he keeps an eye on Villa players out on loan at other clubs.

Really?
Aston Villa FC announced his new role on March 30, 2021.
Hardly two years ago, unless you struggle with numbers.

He was massive for us and loved the club.
Pardew wanted him out and Parish acquiesced and let him go.
Massive error in my opinion as he was someone who should have stayed at the club and now be helping with coaching etc.
Our loss is their gain and once again - thanks Alan - t***!

Agreed! Would love to see him back at Palace - ambassadorial role; inspiring kids in community outreach schools programme etc
