I don't have a problem with his political agenda seems fair enough to me not sure how much impact the mayor can have though. However I hate that phrase "celebrate". Probably because I am a miserable old git but why do we have to "celebrate diversity". Can we not just acknowledge it and move on, I don't celebrate being a fat old white man, I just am.

BANG straight on the attack with the assumptions. What's your take on celebrating diversity? In a diverse borough such as Croydon I think it's to be celebrated. Just interesting that you focused on that rather than 'encouraging civic pride', 'harnessing the talent of local fundraisers' and 'celebrating small businesses to help 'the local economy, providing services, jobs and opportunities for our residents, and making the town and district centres the vibrant and prosperous places'. He also seems to have a solid CV when it comes to public service. So what is your issue exactly?

Good cut and paste job there lol As for the other stuff that sounds like the same stuff every politician and previous mayor has said before, just empty words and very very boring. Edited by dannyboy1978 (18 Jun 2019 4.05pm) Firstly, do you realise what quoting it? I'm not sure my university ever told me off for 'copying and pasting' when I was citing something during my work but I guess we live in the internet age of the moron now. Celebrating diversity means embracing those different to you in your local environment and community. That can be anything such as acknowledging and learning about/respecting festivals or days of other religions/nationalities/belief systems, supporting local businesses such as restaurants of other cuisines, and basically just being an open, welcoming, respectful and friendly person to people different to you. Difference is something to be celebrated. We are not all the same.

Isn't it wonderful to be told about 'celebrating diversity' from an individual who chooses to live in Essex.
'Who are you and how did you get in here? I'm a locksmith. And, I'm a locksmith.' (Leslie Nielsen) |

I'm an atheist and don't want to get envolved in people's festivals doesn't mean I have an less respect for them. I am "welcoming, respectful and a friendly person to people different me" it's called living your life. But celebrate?
