Bac Sak has left the club again. Personally I think it's a shame. Always looked good when he came on and put in better crosses than some of our more high-profile players. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

i dont think its a shame really.

if you actually think about it he offered very little over 4 years and earnt circa £10m from the club in the process, thats “a shame”

an academy prospect earning less than 10% of what he was, would have offered the same if not more over that period.

i wish him well for the rest of his career, but i think we can file him in the same expensive mistake folder as frazier campbell & chamakh.

Our biggest problem in recent seasons has been squad depth. We've got a good first XI but as soon as the injuries mount up, the players coming in aren't good enough to fill in.

He is emblematic of this problem for me. Ok on his day but so far below the level of Zaha or Townsend that could never be adequate cover. Good luck to him but let's get someone better in.

Chamakh was one of the most gifted playewrs ever to play in a Palace shirt - Pulis converting him from striker to number 10 was the main reason we improved under him - and he made the change based on the player's high ability - he was past his peak and didn't do a lot after but he was no mistake - same with people who didn't rate Lakis who Dowie brought in cos of one glaring miss v Arsenal - what's wrong with skill?

Shame as he was one of those players which I really wanted to succeed and so nearly did. A few bright moments but as others have said... not enough!

A positive though (and this may be speculation) is that this will free up a decent chunk of wages to put towards a player or two, preferably Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay or some of the other, young wide players being linked, who would more than fill the gap left by Bakary positionally and in terms of squad numbers. I believe this has got to be one of the reasons as we are short of wide players currently.

I doubt that the club was paying him very much at all.

Chamakh was decent. Strange decision to get Sako back in hindsight. I was all for it at the time and felt he should have played more. Useful impact sub who could make a difference. Hopefully his wage weren't too high.

Always looked like he could do something but was never fit enough, would always have a good 5 minutes but if he was on for longer he'd disappear. Perfect 85th minute sub haha

However one could argue that our best run of form last season coincided with our first choice centre halves being injured.
We do not have the luxury of having 2 players for each position aka the top teams. What we do have is flexibility in our squad with the likes of Ward, Schlupp, Kelly, Kouyate being able to cover a number of positions, and covering them effectively.
When you have the likes of Wilf in your squad you will always have a certain amount of key man dependency. Sako was a squad player who was on a decent salary. At times he showed ability and made telling contributions. However, on balance over both of his stays the negatives probably outweigh the positives, so the money should be used elsewhere.

Why all the fuss about Sako ?
What has the guy really contributed in his second spell ?
You would hardly notice that he had come back, and now he's gone again, so what ?
