Gale loan at WBA is ending. Not clear if he will return to Newcastle. He could be available for £20m, wages £55K a week.
If Wilf is going and we're hoping to shift Benteke we could re-think formation to make better use of Gayle than we did last time around?

After watching the 'vets' match at SP last sat, id say the AJ, Shipps, Clinton, Onesize could all be cosidered to return to our matchday squad.

Obviously im joking, but, what is this obbsession of re-employing ex players?

Gayle has not proved himself at PL level scoring about 20 PL goals in about 100 PL appearances spread over 4 seasons.

I think he would be a good signing for a Championship club but at present is on PL wages.

Not impressed - if on a loan no big deal. Transfer - no.

And the reason why he wasn’t good enough was because unlike most premier league footballers, he couldn’t keep hold of possession. Yes he scored a few, but how many did we concede due to him losing possession. You can’t lose possession too easily in the premier league. He didn’t cover that area too well

How many DID we concede, due to Gayle losing possession?

Gayle is a good Championship player. He has had runs 3 Premier League teams and didn't shape up.

our style of play no longer suits benteke

our current style of play suits a michi/gayle type player more.

right now i would have him back...best finisher ive seen at the club since AJ. hands down.

in fact i would have no preference over michi or gayle...both have ice in their veins when it comes to finishing.

There was a reason a few managers didn’t like him when he still scored goals.

It’s the things he didn’t do.

Completely agree, is much better bet than any striker we have, much more compatible, if we are going bargain style i would take him.
