Let us not count our chickens. By any conventional measure of British politics, she should have been history a fair while ago.

Why has she not just gone now? Perhaps I am more than a tad paranoid but there could well be a twist or turn in this sorry saga yet.

If she has handed back the keys to No.10 and slunk away come the morning of June 8th, then and only then will I believe it.

Because Conservatives backed her in December 2018 with majority when a Vote of Confidence was held in the party.

Apparently, she has waited until after the state visit by Donald Trump at the beginning of June - might seem rather rude to invite him and then not have a PM to greet or meet with him.

Really hope that Boris is NOT the next PM the country is not in the best of state at present but if this buffoon gets into power then things will be ten times worse. I have him on a par with Corbyn in terms of sheer incompetenance and being a total idiot.

History is always the best judge of any politician and normally when someone has to resign I have some sympathy however in Mrs May case I have none.

She was the author of her own downfall she had a majority and blew it on an election that was not required.

She decided on the deal that she wanted without garnishing the support of her own party and better reaching out to the other parties which she only did when the iceberg loomed into sight.

She told us no deal was better than a bad deal and then reneged on that when she couldn't get one passed.

She told us that hers was the only option and that is simply not true. The EU would have preferred a Canadian style free trade deal and offered us that which she turned down. It was obvious very early on that her deal was never going to pass she could have gone back to the EU to discuss different options yet she blundered on.

I guess she thinks she is some sort of strong woman but a strong woman or man for that matter knows when it is time to turn away from a favoured course and chart another.

Good riddance.

There are an awful lot of people who would have preferred her to stay.

After all, who else could have engineered the downfall of the Tories?

They are spent. British politics will take a few unexpected twists over the next couple of years.
