Martin Olsson has just been released by Swansea City.
He has plenty of PL experience and has just turned 31.
He would provide much needed competition a few left back and also provides some versatility which is a bonus.
With Souare going this summer, along with the probable departure of Jairo Riedewald I reckon a left back may be signed.

Seems to me to be a good deal for a decent player with good experience that would be happy to return to the PL and we would have reasonable wage demands.

I'd rather get free next month player Fabio Coentrao than Olsson. I don't think he'd ask for more money than the Swede after having played last season for mid-table Portuguese Rio Ave. He was still in contention for the Portugal squad for last years's World Cup and narrowly missed out after Sporting's problems and the Europa League semifinal loss and fans beating of the players. But he still hasnit at 31. If Holebas from Watford can play in the PL with success at 34 and you can't tell his age, then Coentrao can too at 31. They're similarily built players.

Just as fast and a fighter as Olsson, but much better going forward. And don't tell me that we just need a cover for PVA who can defend, without going forward. We need a complete player. We might lose PVA any window. What then? Get another left back who can attack better? Players need to have both offensive and defensive skills to be brought.

Free agent- need left back cover. Could do worse

By my count we have 23 players in the squad so space for 2 free agents. Striker and fullback. I’d prefer a right back if possible but Abate and Simpson are the only two I can think of, if we can’t land either of them then Olsson would certainly be a decent enough cover on a short contract.

great call from matteo but we do have schlupp and Jairo to cover at lb, it's the other side of course - some still even describe Kelly as a back up rb - he aint no more, Tompkins is rb no.2 (no pun intended)

We have til the 2nd of Sept I believe to sign up all free transfers, after that date we have to ask for permission from the Premier League to sign a freebie (on both counts only if we don't have a full 25-man squad already).
