Mine was Cleopatra Jones, a blaxploitation film supporting Enter the Dragon at Catford ABC.
We had quite a choice of cinemas in the 70s with Studio 6+7 in Lewisham and Odeons in Lewisham, Peckham, Penge, Well Hall and Bromley, which also had the Astor.
I think the Granada in Sydenham had become Safeway’s by then but Forest Hill ABC might have still been open.
Getting into an X film when underage was a rite of passage like getting served your first pint.

Mine was Enter the Dragon

As you say it was an X film and yet today you can watch it on terrestrial TV, how times have changed.

The Exorcist iand The Devils are also shown on television as is A Clockwork Orange which was banned, albeit at Kubrick’s insistence, for many years.
An X cert for Bruce Lee films now seems quaint.

Friday 13th.

More or less a school trip judging by the number of class mates present

I think it was 'grave of the vampire'
proper B movie s***e but enjoyable purely because we were not meant to be there.
Also remember as somebody else mentioned'school trips' when a bunch of mates went to see 'enter the dragon'
also Halloween, the exorcist & a great double header of shivers on with cannibal girls.
cannibal girls had the quirk of a claxone going off seconds before the gore, which actually scared you more than the film.
Used to see these at ABC west Croydon, the odean in central Croydon(A few doors away from where McDs is now)
the Beckenham rounabout cinema(odean?) was good as the exit stairs were at the rear, so we'd wait for the earlier viewing to finish & leg it up the stairs to sit at the back waiting for the film to start again.

A good evening would be topped up with an underage pint of keg bitter in the pub across the roundabout from cinema.

Having watched a fair bit of dross I got a bit of a shock seeing the exorcist which scared the s*** out of me, only watched it again a few years ago and actually appreciated it for the great film it is not just a knicker wetter!

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

There was a double bill of The Wicker Man and Don’t Look Now which were both better than they seemed at the time although The Wicker Man was properly creepy.

The Odeon Beckenham my local.

I think I was 14 when I saw Enter The Dragon. The pub opposite is called The Bricklayers never liked it further up the high street is the George where I had my first pint at 14, was well known for underage drinking as long as you behaved yourself.

A clockwork orange was my first x film in 1973 before they banned it, followed by The Devils and The exorcist. Although they were De riguer for us sixteen year olds, i have to say i didn’t really get the first two, and thought the devils in particular was sh1te.

That’s quite a trio for your first three.
There was a certificate X London (presumably because folk outside the big city couldn’t cope with such material) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre had that certificate and has also been shown on television now.

I think my first X film was The Omen, at Studio 123 in Sutton (previously The Curzon). I was underage.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I saw Quadrophenia at the Streatham ABC when it came out in 1979 when I was 11 or 12. A mate of my sister worked there and got me in for free. I also saw Scum the same year but not sure which was first. A Phil Daniels double.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
