I can't remember being more confident than I am in Luka when we get a spot kick. But is he our best ever?

Who could be the contenders
Dave Madden - Scored against Blackburn and we got promoted. Can't remember another!

Ian Wright - I was only a youngster at the time but I think he could tuck them away. However, both him and Brighty were responsible for the 997 missed in the game against Brighton!

Andy Johnson - Won more than he scored and holds the record for most in a season. But I feel he did miss a few and was never 100% confident

Glenn Murray - Terrible penalty taker. About a 50/50 chance. But better than Benteke!

Luka - Missed against City (we would have been the first to beat them that season) and also against Everton. But apart from those 2, magnificent finishing, especially when setting the record straight at Man City this season.

But for me the best was Jedi. I don't remember him taking that many but I certainly don't remember him missing one. The one away at West Ham particularly nice when guaranteeing us Premier League status.

Would love Luka to beat AJs record this season. Great player and captain.

Now here's Wright, his first chance to see what he can do, and he's through, it's Wright, ohhhh what an impact by the substitute. And it's Ian Wright who's sent the Palace fans into ecstasy!

Francis Lee with 15 for Man City 1n 1971/72 is the most in any top division, played more matches they, I think 42.
AJ is most prem only 11

I liked the way Andy Grey took penalty's . He would start his run up from the halfway line . When he kicked the ball it would be with a lot of power and go straight over the goal , to the side off the goal or even hit the floodlight's but if it went in he would take the goalkeeper with it or rip a hole in the back of the net . Maybe not the best penalty taker but a lot of fun to watch .

Halfway up and above, just inside the post - a well hit penalty is unstoppable. Murray sometimes went down the middle, Luka doesn't anymore (thank you for the correction).

Luka does go down the middle - or rather he used to! He went down the middle against Man City last season and it was saved. I think he went down the middle at Everton this season, also saved, costing us the match. However it looks like - in view of those failures - he doesn't go down the middle any more.

Dean Gordon used to taken brilliant penalties he would blast them in with his left foot and I think he only ever missed once.

Jedi took a decent penalty. Luka clearly doesn't do too bad

I think Madden scored five out of five in his twenty odd games for us.

I would however say Luka took a better penalty but Madden was the much better player.

Surely Andy Johnson is the only player to rival Milo.

He used to win lots of penalties and then score them.
Now we have the Wilf and Milo show.

I don't remember having other players who could win that many penalties in the past so the person who took them did not stand out so much.

Where might we be now if it wasn’t for super cool Kevin Phillips?
