I'm going to raise two very worrying cases I've read about recently showing......what I feel amounts to absurd Police powers which go against traditional English common law.....Yet both have succeeded against legal challenge.

It seems that the Police can arrest anyone using obvious lies and be supported legally.

One of these examples will no doubt be supported by the left and the other not. For me, both examples are outrageous for pretty much the same reason.

Firstly the Tommy Robinson case.

[Link]

Secondly a case against anti Royal Wedding groups.

[Link]

I am simply astonished with where we are in this country.

They have enough resources for these cases then?

The police kettled some anti capitalist protesters in London about 10 years ago and certain sections of society went into meltdown about human rights.

My mates just shrugged their shoulders and said these people have obviously never been to a football match.

It's funny how the police get the benefit of doubt from the media with football fans but as soon as the liberals are caught up in something....

For the record the Zombie wedding seemed a bit harsh.

Ultimately, 'the establishment' does what it likes when it feels the need. The police have always been used as the blunt instrument when required.

When I started on these boards I was very much a milk toast supporter of the Police. Now I'm just disillusioned and feel disenfranchised from them.

This guy should never have been sent to prison. What he did was out of order but they ruined his life and he ended it.

He gets sent to prison when judges let people off for trying to stab people in cars with zombie knifes.

An eight year legal case, that's quite something. I can't say I'm surprised though, the establishment always gets its way.

It's similar with the Prince Philip car crash really. These things just go away. He could've ploughed through a family and it would've been reasoned away.

I don't have such an issue with this situation as I understand that a public building still has to have rules.

However, I regarded the original situation in the park and then in her home as very off and evidence of just where our Police are.

It wasn't clear what rules she broke though?
