Why does no one want Ray Lewington to succeed Roy when he retires. Vastly experienced, or does his age put people off.

He has been deeply involved in a successful survival campaign with us and that is probably what we need for a while.

Our only flirtation with shexy football proved we don't do it.

We are a " two wingers flying down the sides " team

I like Ray but he's just not the man to take us forward imo

We need a young manager that can grow with the club in the next few years. Someone who's proactive during games and will give our youngsters a chance. Ray would just be another Roy, which we shouldn't be trying to keep for longer than we need to

Assuming we stay up (!) this season, whoever in charge next year will take us down IMO.

If you keep dancing with the devil on the regs, you'll end up burning in hell with him!

Don't disagree but not sure we will in the short term be in the position where we don't need a Roy/Sam/Tony as we are likely to always be relegation candidates along with 9 or 10 others.

The important question would he want it? Being Number One means you're the one that takes all the flack. Look at the job Roy has done but as soon as he loses two games everyone wants a change.

Ray is a good no.2 but that doesn't make him a good no.1

Right ray of sunshine ain't ya?

I know it ain't been our best season but there's no reason to suggest we won't be alright next season. Wait to see how the summer goes before making any big claims

I don't see how any of us could judge Ray's potential competency as a full manager.

Why would I want someone who coaches the team to play Roy's boring crap when he goes?
