International Women's Day

lets celebrate all international women. I do not recall seeing an 'international woman' walking up and down Westow Street in Upper Norwood but then again maybe she had left all her flags at home or hidden in her underclothing ? in fact, i struggle to think of a single 'international woman'. Heinrich Schliemann, father of archaeology by finding Troy, grew up in Germany, made his fortune in California and settled in Greece. By the end of his life he could converse in : English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, Italian, Greek, Latin, Russian, Arabic, and Turkish as well as German. 14 Languages from widely dispersed linguistic families. So certainly 'an international man'. He seems to have married something like a seventeen year old 'mail order bride'....30 years his junior. It is not known if she ever left her village or read a book. But nevertheless, based upon the notion that women get their status from the men they marry (obviously) ....i propose that Sophia Schliemann is an 'international woman'. She co-discovered Troy, a city destroyed by a woman's infidelity. A city founded 5,000 years ago and which surely was home to some significant women - both domestic and international. It seems both Agamemnon and Schliemann got a flea in their ear for their troubles. So bravo, three cheers for her ! noteworthy as i researched polyglots is mention of our Roy. Multilingual 8 times over ...an international Eagle ! By contrast, it is believed that Chris Hughton speaks fluent English and may have possibly once attended a regatta in Margate(citation needed). .... a domesticated Seagull. Elizabeth I (1533–1603) could speak ten languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Latin, Welsh, Cornish, Scottish and Irish. I was in a bar & got chatting to a Yank who would not admit that he was Anglo American meaning one of his parents were English. Instead he twisted himself into knots proclaiming he was 'Cornish- American' !!

If we could reduce women's life expectancy, get them to do slightly worse at school and college and get them f***ed over in any divorce, then we can get closer to equality.

I've always found it fascinating that the call for "equal representation" is restricted to upper management and boardroom positions. Surely there should be equality across sewage workers, site labourers, street cleaners, bin lorries etc?
