It may be apocryphal, but over the years I feel there's been a fair few occasions when defeat - or failure to beat - Palace has turned out to be the last straw for a manager. And so it is with Claude Puel.

Any recollections of previous post-Palace-match sackings? Does van Gaal count?!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Mike Walker, Everton. Sacked after we beat them at home in October of the 1994-95 season.

Walker was replaced by Joe Royle, and Everton went on to win won the FA Cup. As for us, oh well back down we went and Alan Smith got to keep his company car as part of his payoff.

Last game was Newcastle away, lost 3-2, Iain Dowie got both our goals, BUT, my daughter was Palace mascot. Southgate was our captain & Beardsley was the Toons. Oh, & it snowed

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Indeed, while reaching both domestic cup semi-finals in 1995.

Exactly not many clubs have the honour of reaching the last 4 in all the big domestic competitions in the same season.

And a much more enjoyable one.

Gus Poyet, sacked by Brighton after we beat them 2-0 in the 2013 playoff semi final. And poo gate.

A related pub quiz question with the same answer would have been: "Name the only club to have been relegated from the top flight having finished the season 4th from bottom".
