It's been a while since the bad old days of the 70's and 80's. More and more South London people move out down south and make new friendships. Watford and Southampton are more our level and they both have sets of annoying fans. I ask you, is the Palace v Brighton rivalry finished? Are we more bothered about other teams these days. I got to admit, I dislike Charlton, Millwall, Watford, Southampton, QPR way more than Brighton. Your thoughts?

No but seeing how pathetic and Tarquin infested their fans are these days it's hard to hate them, more like pity. It will never die as our fans put in the effort to make sure it survives unlike theirs (see the cup game crowd). There's teams I really do hate like Millwall, Liverpool, ManYoo and even Charlton though I appreciate not everyone agrees with that one. Brighton are just a jumped up, artificially inflated, noddy little seaside club with two club w***ers packing the stands of their overpriced ground and a team that plays s***e football with no flair. They don't deserve our attention but they will stil get it and they should be bloody grateful, it is Crystal Palace who keeps them even vaguely relevant. Who'd have them as rivals if we didn't, Crawley? we've got a point to prove at SP...

Hate is way too strong a word but it makes me smile when they lose and the thought of losing to them is unacceptable as is them finishing above us in the table.

If you think it's finished, go read North Stand Chat (their Hol equivalent). They usually have anything up to 6-7 threads about Palace related stuff.

Which is why the 'rivalry' was created in the first place .We have always had bigger fish to fry ,Millwall and Chalton for those of us from Bromley and Kent and even Chelsea for those to the west . Brighton have been more of a nusiance to be honest , a few years when the agro got a bit tasty, the tit for tat pub smashing away days was more like gang warfare than an actual football rivalry . As we from that era have got older the rivalry has mellowed with us .

Not sure if it’s the same thing, but Brighton weren’t in my preferred 3 to get relegated this season. I personally can’t stand Watford and would love to see them relegated. Horrible fans and players and town. So annoying to see how well they’re doing. Then it would be Huddersfield and Bournemouth for me. Again, just annoying clubs, teams and fans. Sadly it looks like I’ll only see one of my preferred 3 get relegated.

It's definitely over. I've been to the last two away league games and the rivalry is incredibly one sided. They're not interested one bit. It's a stadium full of premier league customers. I'd be surprised if Brighton was the first team of even 20% of the clients in there, it's just another game for them. Being in my thirties I missed the height of the rivalry and although I do hate Brighton, the big rivalry for me is Millwall or Charlton. I still remember getting relegated at the valley and their fans dining out on it for years. Old Cyril Sneer going to manage them was a kick in the bollox too.

When I was growing up and first started supporting Palace the local rival was not Brighton. We didn't play them (from 1963 to 1974), I didn't know any Brighton fans, so I'd left school and was nearly 20 the first time we played them in a league match. Millwall was the one - when they came down being on the Holmesdale was terrifying.
