I don't understand the appeal of the padded egg catch. I went to two games at Wembley and it just seems to be an assault on the senses to distract you from the fact that nothing is going on. Cheerleaders, party patrol, mascots acting the arse, guest DJs for timeouts even. It's almost perfect for TV as during this considerable down time you get some analysis/replays/ red zone, which feels contrived rather than organic. Regarding the game, unless someone cobs a hail Mary it feels eventless. As an aside, the fantasy football version of the game is complicated beyond belief. Overall the whole thing is centred around a consumer experience based on razzle dazzle rather than substance which I can't buy into. This Americanised approach to sport "entertainment" is taking over the premier league too thanks to sky's relentless efforts to pump advertising directly into our skulls. Over-promoted games have led to a false perspective that just surviving in the premier league is the absolute pinnacle of success. Where the Americans differ, which I respect, is that it is all about winning the Superbowl, nothing else matters, and the salary caps and draft picks are designed to promote competition across the leagues. We should have this attitude to winning at every club. Since when was just surviving in the premier league more attractive than winning the league cup, the fa cup or the chance to win a European trophy off the back of either? It is for most people, just an excuse for a big party, and miss work the next day. There have been some exceptionally good superbowls in recent years, this was not one of them. Terrible game, terrible half time show. At least the commercials were decent this year, though you will have to hit up youtube to watch them i guess. I moved to Miami in 1999, just happened to be the superbowl weekend and it was in Miami. A slow game and a half time show that didn't really work. I enjoyed seeing Gareth Southgate play pundit and not have a scooby what he was talking about though.

I didn't see it and wiuldn't have understood it if I had, but everything I've seen and heard about it says it was total s***e.
