No Dann needs to stop as cover for either Sakho or particularly Tomkins who does suffer from niggly injuries.
Dann can step straight back in, do not need Cahill here, I do fear in the summer that Mamadou Sakho may go also.

He's on high wages right... so if we can reduce the wage bill then I guess it makes sense for this transfer. We have Kelly as back-up who is coming along well and could buy another young CB. We don't want Cahill though imo

In an ideal world we keep Tomkins, Dann, Kelly and Sakho on the books.

But if we're in a situation of 10m for Dann and freeing up some wages to get another player in, then going probably makes sense. We managed to cope quite well with having just Kelly as backup while Dann was out and Kelly has performed brilliantly most times he's been called upon.

He's also younger than Dann, probably on less wages, and maybe happier to be a squad player. As a former key player and club captain, with only 2 or 3 more years left at a high level I think it would be fair to let him explore other options to get one last contract/more playing time elsewhere.

I don't think this is a Murray situation, especially if we have Cahill coming in on loan to cover for the rest of the season. Emotionally it will be sad to see him go but logically, I think it makes sense.

Would rather keep him than sign Cahill, but I'm sure Dann wants to play every week and not act as cover.
